Interesting i have those new tires that have the flat shape. I inflated mine but they still hold the flat shape, how much pressure do you use?

The pics are from 1/4 scale Skygate gear, not Tomahawk gear. The Tomahawk 1/3.5 are even bigger!!

The Skygate mains are right at 150mm and the nose is right at 100mm
Heres a pic of my 1/5th scale F16 main wheel and nose wheel.

Thanks a Ton for the feedback on the tire sizes Scott. The factory and I spoke yesterday and today regards whats involved in changing the wheel sizes. It does require pretty much an entire new wing design, which will mean new plugs. Luckily they had only made one set of molds thus far. The factory decided in the end that they would go ahead and do it. Here is the email that I have just received.

Hi Ali:

Just update you.

Hawk main wheel, will go for 145mm tire. after pump air, it can be 150mm wheel.

nose gear will go for 95mm, after pump air, it can be 100mm wheel.

Wow, nice job Ali! This kind of stuff speaks volumes! Proper looking gear and a nice outline should make it successful.

I have to say, it's almost unprecedented that a company is improving their product in real time like this. Other manufacturers should take note, even the European ones. Ali, thanks for being such a great ambassador!

Dantley, I am with you on that one. It is truly refreshing to see a productivity and improvement rate as prompt as this.
No need to thank me. Credit goes to James and the factory. I have tried to work with quite a few different manufacturers over the years. I can pick up on points or make suggestions on pretty much every kit/ product that I have been involved with. The important bit, and the bit that makes it worth while doing is when that said manufacturer first of all listens. Secondly. Understand that you are trying to help and not just criticise, and lastly. Actually do something about it. As far as I can see it is James ( EagleJC on RCU ) That deserves the thanks. The guy must be working tirelessly on emails each and every day.
Hooker. Of course you can get these stateside. It is just like any other FEJ product. Shoot an email or PM to Lowell and I am sure that he would be happy to help. I am just involved in this and other products in a development role. They are by no means anything exclusive to Al's Hobbies. Although I would be more than happy if they were :D
Regards Al

These are the original set of gear. Not the newer larger wheel set up. James assures me that mine will be with the larger wheels.

Perhaps it's hard to see in the pictures but, shouldn't there be a bit of anhedral/downward sloping in the elevator? Just wondering[8D]

jetnuno 01-30-2013 12:35 PM

RE: FEJ Giant Hawk 1:3.5 Scale

Hi

Anehedral in elevator is not correct. Also gear is not scale. After all the effort of making such an airframe it's a pitty not to make it right.

FEJ - please take a bit extra time to make it right....

Curious about cockpit

Regards

Nuno

RE: FEJ Giant Hawk 1:3.5 Scale

Hi David:

Yes, the elevators are a bit of anhedral/downward.
Wings will be anhedral/up 2 degree.

Ali, yes you right, the wheels will be 14.5cm (pump air to be 15cm) on this.

I will have couple more details photos soon.

Thanks
James

RE: FEJ Giant Hawk 1:3.5 Scale

James, I should have closely watched the flight video of the large Hawk, you can actually see the anhedral in the elevator. Planes looks pretty good, now it's time to conference with my banker (the WIFE).[8D]
