Very soon I am going to install a 190 and cortex gyro into my J-10, I'm going to read the thread but in the meantime any tips on GG, rates, gyro settings I should be mindful off?

‘I’m in winter mode, and I still need to paint mine...from what I read, CARF C&G is good on this model, I have the cortex pro as well in mine....can’t help you until spring/summer, post anything you get ;)

FWIW; iGyro3: Heading = 24% / Heading Hold = 100% used only during 3D maneuvering (important to understand this setting must only be used during constant roll / yaw / pitch maneuvering at low velocity).

Cortex Pro not the iGyro3 ;) that’s already in the manual.......

Yes I did......I understand you think heading hold is a must.... :)

3 Attachment(s)
Getting ready to fly it this week, it will be interesting to see how it handles a 190 and if I have able to get some very high alpha's towards the last 1-2 mins of flight time. I don't intend to have it for a long time since its not my cup of tea so to speak but its always great to fly different jets than I am used to from the scale and sport jets. If I like it I will install either a ACEx 220 or KT 260 to test out the turbine before it goes into a Airworld Gripen.

Attachment 2269194

The setup I have is the following....

Altecare Behotec electric retract set
MKS servos and arms
- 3 HBL599 (Vectoring & Canard)
-3 HB777+ (Rudder & Elevons)
Jet Tech kevlar tanks
Oversized main tank
Smoke tank
PowerBox Jet Smoke pump
Intairco ITrap UAT
Cortex Pro Gyro
ACEx 190 Turbine
AR12120 RX

Lots of nice equipment going into this. Word on the street from what I’m hearing with this jet is keep them light and lots of power. KT210 ok but not great. JB220 awesome (230N).....One fellow put a JC Mamoth, larger fuel tank, and had to add nose ballast....got pretty beefy and didn’t fly as well.

I’ve got bitten by the J-10 bug myself.....

Moebius44 01-20-2021 08:04 AM

Good luck...hope all goes well.

These airframes - hand's-down - fly beautifully in both traditional and particularly 3D flight maneuvering...

I love my J10. The other day I got to the field and it was pretty foggy. Luckily I had my J10 and could fly everything super tight and low with loads of high alpha. I'm running a Behotec 220, nice simple set up and have loads of flights on it now. I see people with these try and land them more like non delta aircraft, come in flat and try and flare which normally results in coming in pretty fast and using a lot of runway. If you get it transitioning in to high alpha with the nose up through base / base to final turn you can then manage the sink with power and land it incredibly slowly.

Dansy - what screwdrivers are you using for the wing bolt and tail? ( I see 2 on your table I assume your using) I can't any long and skinny enough to fit into the hole underneath the wing, T-bar could work but has to be really long otherwise the top hits the wing. Thanks

Bobneal1 01-20-2021 09:24 PM

Screwdrivers

I use these on my J-10, the 5mm for the wings and the 3mm for the vertical fin.

Thanks I've ordered... I'll use what I have for tomorrow's maiden and use the Bondus set when it arrives this weekend.

Dansy 01-21-2021 05:52 AM

Yep I’m using a 5mm Ball link driver for mine from bondhus...and 3mm for the fin......

F900 01-21-2021 04:12 PM

Thank you Bob....

Just remember I am not a 3D guy .... sometimes you see videos and it looks easy, for this jet it was a non event on 1st flights and I love the take off and landings. We tried a few hovers and it barely held alt, spins on a dime, but just remember I am at 5500ft elev and I only have a 190 installed but for me it did quite well.

Higher altitude does suck power, was the same in full size, but not as dramatic in the colder weather (spring / fall)

just look at the video’s, nice flight...I’m also a 3D beginner with jet, only own the SAB Havoc for a very short time :(

Great maiden and nice landing....

Very nice Danny, I saw you and the owner fly a few times on Friday.

Yesterday I just had installed a new 240 into the J10
