Thanks Keith. I don't know why I didn't think of that. I will pull it out and wait until I get the CG meter in lol.

Here is a few more pictures of what I have done. Currently I am working on finishing up the fuel line. I am waiting on 90 degree festo fittings so that I can install the fuel filter in the location in the picture. I am putting at the back of the tank. I made a mount for it so that if needed I can remove it from the mount. I also mounted my tube brackets that holds my fueling/defueling line. I am waiting on the plug to come in. I also have both component plates put in as you can see in the pictures. Once I get the CG meter " maybe this weekend" I will start to balance it. I am looking to put fuel in the air trap and just a hair in the tank so I can balance it how I like it. Question for balancing, do you balance with the cockpit in or does that matter? All my neighbors are waiting for me to get this thing done so they can hear it start up! I keep telling them that I can only go as fast as the mail will let me.

Bling bling LOL looking food, I like those tygon line holders. Be sure and balance with the cockpit in, gear down and with the UAT full.

JoeJr1485 04-07-2016 07:01 PM

okay sweet! Thanks Keith. I got the holders from Ultimate jets. I got a ton of them b/c I know I will need them for the next build.

Thanks Quandry! I cant wait to test the Intairco parts out. Once I have everything done I am going to put a little vid together of a walk around. : )

Okay so I have almost everything in and ready to go. I went to test the servos again with my new Batteries and the rudder server which is a MKS 777 brand new is jittering like crazy and I cant figure out why. Here is a video of it. Also I CG'ed it and it comes out at the 10 mm behind the main wing spar according to the manual. If you can assist helping me figure out this servo issue I would be thankful.

Okay I narrowed down my rudder servo problem to my CB200. I hooked everything up to a 12 Channel Jeti receiver and used the same battery and what do you know smooth as icing. I switched out batteries with another one and same thing nice and smooth. I still need to try another channel on the CB 200 just to make sure its not my complete radio setup but if it is I will start fresh. If that doesn't work then I am calling Jeti for a replacement. I will post soon of my results. I have also attached pictures of tank install completed, electronics, and battery holder. The dry weight come out to be 35.2 pounds.

JoeJr1485 04-13-2016 04:00 PM

Okay so I reset my CB200 and its still doing it. my other MKS servos are not doing that and its funny that on the R12 receiver it works fine but not on the CB200. I also noticed that the first 8 channels on the 12 channel is PPM and the rudder servo falls in the 8. I don't think you can set PPM on the CB 200 which sucks. I need help figuring this out please.

JoeJr1485 04-13-2016 04:51 PM

Has anyone watched the video that I posted I need assistance please.

JoeJr1485 04-13-2016 06:09 PM

Okay I have it fixed!!!! not sure why I have to do it this way but it works very smooth now. Here is the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=net9ZsPwEyE

JoeJr1485 04-13-2016 07:21 PM

I have everything hooked back up and man its so quite and smooth!!!! I love it! Now all I need to do is fix my throws and etc. I am still waiting on my flight computer and hoping that a fuel comes back into stock at esprit models So I can pump fuel into the jet. One thing that I am trying to figure out is the throws for the flaps. I have them setup but the manual doesn't say anything about the throws for landing and takeoff. I looked at Skymasters and Carf but not sure if I should use those numbers. Can someone assist in figuring this out.

ausfester 04-14-2016 04:17 AM

How are you securing the wings to the fuse? Just using the wing spar system with bolts in end of spar? Seems a little dicy to me, not 100% about leaving it like that but I guess in theory it should be safe

yes, the bolts will hold the wings in place. you have the main wing spar and the two aluminum studs that direct the wings in place. I havent hurd or read of any issues on how the wings are set up on this jet.

I had a setback on the build. I have to replace the servo in the rudder from a MKS 777 to a Jr8911. there is an issue with the MKS and Jeti not liking eachother with long extensions. It should be in on Monday. I also have the xicoy FC1 installed and it looks awesome. here is a frew pictures of it.

So I just wet my self hahaha!!! I got the viper almost completed and test the turbine for the first time today. Now keep in mind this is my first Turbine and "MAN!!" does it sound bad A*%... I set all setting according to the manual for Diesel and I'm sitting at sea level in Hawaii. The outside temp is 80 F and it started up smooth and fast. I didn't monitor for flames at first but I will report back. Also on the first run; the cool down sound great and did its job. Now on the Third run; the cool down sound just a little different " Bearings sound". I really don't know how to explain it. I will run it again this weekend to do some taxi time and then take a video of the cool down. I am using Kingtech oil at the 5%. Not sure if I am just crazy or it supposed to sound like it did.

Okay I did get a little clip of it. I thought I didn't get it in time when I shutdown the turbine. Its not very long but Please let me know if the cool down sounds right or is something grinding. If you cant tell I will take another this weekend.

Okay folks I need some help please. I have one of my used JR8911HV servos in the tail and when either full throw down or up and half throw and can put a little pressure on it and it moves either down or up like the gears or something is stripped. it doesn't make any weird noise if there was any issue. I have no clue and I'm seeking your assistance please.

Here is the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zIPrNXZnRJI

FenderBean 04-27-2016 02:00 AM

From what Derrick at Kingtech told me the bearing noise is normal if it's the same ceramic bearing noise I have in my 170s.

JoeJr1485 04-27-2016 07:31 AM

okay thanks Keith. I will take another video of the cool down this weekend that is a little longer. I just know that the first cool down it sounded kind of quite then the third one was loud almost like it was bone dry with no lubrication.

JoeJr1485 04-27-2016 05:45 PM

Any one that has this Viper, what throws are you using for the flaps??? This is the last thing I need to setup but No were in the manual does it state how far my flaps need to be for take off and landing. I hope some could help me with this one. Thanks again.

So I got the new cockpit in and have it glued into the canopy. I masked it off and painted the over hanging lip that is glued to the canopy black so it blends in What I also had to do is at the front of the cockpit where it passes through the canopy; applied little notches so that when placed inside the fuse, it will pass the alignment holes in the front. It has a great fit and it is easy to get out and put in. I ran into an issue after the install. I thought it was a good idea to use thick CA to glue it in place and it worked great but now I have a fog film on the clear plastic . I have most of it removed by using canned glass cleaner but looking at the pictures you can still see a little of it. It also clouded the black cover that is around the passenger seat. But after a good wipe (or the best that I could get using a paper towel and a rod to get inside) looks okay now. Praying that it stays that way. I have to find something a little longer to reach all the way to the middle of the clear plastic so I can try and clean it. The other option that I have is that When I got the airframe from FB, they gave me an extra set of clear plastic that I could just replace it but the issue is, I am trying to figure out how I will take the current one out with the cockpit still glued in. The cockpit flanges along the side are kind of brittle and I am afraid that if I try to remove it, it will mess it all up. If I remove the clear plastic with the cockpit in I will have to use a exacto knife with a square tip on it. that's fin but not sure how I will put the other one in with glue and hold it in place. I am hoping you all can give some guidance on this one. Here are some pictures.

Only thing I can think of would be some air plane window polish it's for clear plastics. I bought mine at the auto store a long time ago works great for making a crystal clear canopy. Also the best thing I have found for canopies is hysol or the rc canopy glue. For mounting the cockpit buckets I have switched to regular old goop. It's clear and if you need to remove the cockpit from the canopy for any reason you can. It's good for securing fuel tanks and air tanks as well.
i just finished up my sm 2.5m viper as well.

Thanks Keith. I checked this morning when I got up and it still looks better. I need to try and get all they in the middle to clean it as well. I look at getting the air plane window polish. lol So I ordered the canopy glue from DreamWorks but its on back order, that's the reason why I thought it would have been a good Idea to use CA. I also wonder if I had set it in front of a fan to let it fully air out would it have done the clouding. Not sure. Your Viper is looking nice! lol love the minions. For my next project, I WILL not use CA for the cockpit/Canopy install.

JoeJr1485 06-06-2016 11:10 PM

Since Feb I have been working on the FB Viper and I am happy to say that I am done with it. It has been a great experience putting together my first turbine Jet. I have learned a lot from the process and from those that have provided feedback. I am sure that there are things that I could have done different or better but its a learning process and that's were the fun is. I cant wait to get it to PFRCC to have the club members take a look at it and make sure it flight worthy. Now I can start looking at my new project!

FenderBean 06-07-2016 08:25 AM

What's the next project? A-10?
