Since this morning I'm in front of the Powerbox product page trying to figure out which receivers/box I need and it is quite frustrating to spend that time for simple applications ...

I have 2 planes to move from a CBOX 200 to whatever the Core can offer with the same level of realiability.
One is the small F18 from Skymaster, it's 2.3 meter long with a K160 in it and 9 servos.
And the other one is an Extreme Flight MXS in 94 inches with 5 servos.

I know that the PBR-9D is a dual receivers unit but you really think it will be safe enough to fly it in a 2.3m jet and big 3d planes ?
So to sum up, PowerBox Sensor -> PBR-9D ?
Looks pretty light to me ?

Out of curiosity why are switching away from your current radio?

Do you want a gyro?

in the F-18 I’d use a Mercury SRS with 2 x 26D if you want a gyro.
The MXS a Evolution with a PBR-9

Sensor switch is too light in current for either of those 2 models. Gemini II would be OK as a Switch only on either. The F-18 needs more than 9 ch though even with 9 servos only- valves etc?

jimibar 01-09-2020 08:38 AM

Thanks Dave, I forgot to mention, I have a Cortex Demon Pro for the F18.
I have a spare Mercury that I was planning to use in an upcoming plane, but I feel it's an overkill for this F18 ...
Got it for the MXS, Gemini+PBR-9.

Dave Wilshere 01-09-2020 09:00 AM

I have a Mercury in a CARF Joker, it’s not overkill. It’s simple, neat and protects the investment-value and safety!

Is there a teacher-pupil function in the Core system? Does it relay on a cable or is it wireless?

No buddy box function that I know of

BarracudaHockey 01-10-2020 05:40 AM

Confirming the answer is no, there's no buddy box functionality. It's on the list for a future update

I think the update will be released tomorrow.

BarracudaHockey 01-10-2020 11:34 AM

That's the voice update, just to be clear. I've seen it in person, it works good and I'm excited to try it out.

AEROSHELDON 01-10-2020 11:39 AM

I assume the bug fix for not seeing the delay time will be fixed as well?

Gregd3 01-10-2020 12:26 PM

I really like the radio. My one complaint and it is a big one for me no wifi as of now. Forget the voice updates for now. I thought being able to update easily would be a top priority. Should be able to update the transmitter and receivers of this price point without needing to purchase a windows computer. My house has all Apple products. I can update my mercurys and other products from my ipad or iphone or imac, not the Core or it's Receivers. Hate other people having to obtain updates for me.

Here are some photos. I’m struggling for the time needed to list it all out, but with the iSat manual it makes sense! You need to double tap on the Rx widget, in this case RSSi was used and the Rx menu comes up. Touch the menu list (with Rx on) and it will scan find the Rx. Then it will show a screen with General settings where you change it to Fasttrack. Then use the two long bars at the extreme of each page to scroll.
This set up has the two ailerons in 2&7, 3&8 elevator etc. The gain channel ch5

One thing on the iSat Gyro when doing the stick limits, it’s important to hold the stick at the limit when you press the arrows and follow the left/right up/down prompt as it sets the direction from this.

I think for the small jets this is a game changer, 9ch Rx and an iSat in a Mini Xcalibur would make for a really easy install and light.

I don't know how to figure out the tow different gain settings in one flight? I guess it needs two flights? One for range A and one for range B?

Dave Wilshere 01-11-2020 08:13 AM

It’s almost certainly the same! The only difference is the ‘heading’ hold (Attitude assist) on ailerons only when in Range B.

Excellent discussion thread for what appears to be the leading new high end Tx on the market today, While there are clearly some new product growth issues they are being addressed quickly via updates. The Tx itself I find very comfortable, correctly laid out for me, and the screen interface is excellent. The programming is terrific. I am reminded of when bought a Multiplex (the original "pizza box radio") because I could not force my Futaba and JR radios to do what I wanted (glider crow mixes, camber mixes, etc). That Tx was a revelation in how the user could be given free rein. So I'll have a radio that looks great feels great and allows great programming flexibility backed by a responsive company with a great track record and the same goals as me. Have I missed something? LOL Feel free to talk me out of this decision ;) But I don't have forever, old "sparky", my DX18, appears to be wearing out, or falling apart!

AEROSHELDON 01-13-2020 08:14 AM

Thanks. I always wait a week or two before doing any updates....

Good to see the 1.6 manual. Have the update download problems been resolved yet?

Ad Clark 01-13-2020 09:23 AM

Please pardon me Dave---PM sent --Thanks

Which down load issues?
Ad seen and answered!

[QUOTE=Dave Wilshere;12575778]Which down load issues?
Powerbox had the 1.6 update posted for download on the weekend from what I can gather. People seemed to be having issues so it was removed
. Google translate sometimes makes it hard to follow along with some posts on the PB forum. Just wondering if you have heard anything?

Dave Wilshere 01-13-2020 11:20 AM

Will find out, not looked at it or had any feedback.

Dave Wilshere 01-13-2020 12:27 PM

Seems the crazy people around the world started the update before all the files were uploaded. In future no one should update until it’s posted that the update is ready. With time differences it seems impossible to find a time to do this without someone sitting at their pc!

Give it 24hrs, there is the thought to modify the voice switch option a tiny bit, so 1.61 will come.

Dave
