Not made much progress due to work but here are a few more shots.

1. Modified the grey/white paint lines at the front of the fuselage
2. Masked off retracts ready for a splash of grey/white paint
3. Taped out the areas for the dark grey camo
4. Another shot of the areas taped for the dark grey camo

Will be spraying the dark grey tonight so hopefully that'll mean the painting is finished and I can start adding rivets/screwheads/decals etc to make it really come to life.

Mark

what paint did you end up using? the auto type? or latex?

RE: EuroSport scale conversion so far.....

Laura - yep it should be - that was the plan all along - I'm clearly not as quick as your dad!

Patf, I ended up using cellulose as I don't have the spraying equipment for anything too toxic and I was put off latex due to it's drying times and staying soft for so long.

The cellulose has worked a treat - goes on nicely and is dry in 10mins! Can even me masked after 30mins!

Will post some pics of the completed camo soon.

Mark

sounds good!
What brand is that paint? do you have to mix your colors?

Thanks
Florent

Getting there!! Just the detailing, decals and canopy to do!

Florent, not sure what brand the paint is as I just gave the RAL and BS numbers to a friend and he got them for me. He uses a paint shop that mixes the paint to the colours you ask for. All I had to do was mix it 50:50 with cellulose thinners and spray.

My dad uses:
Halfords paint in acan.... He always has to finish the paint side in aday. Then next day stickers and then laquer.
2 pac laquer now can't be put into can cos of the dangerous fumes and high pressures apparently so he had to use his spray gun and mat the laquer down his self!

Passed me theory today!!!!!! No more Highway code :D:D:D Now have to wait for August, got a cancellation![&:]

Laura

Ps: How much weight do you reckon paint will put on the model?

Spent the last couple of hours applying the 'screwheads' - really transforms things no end!! The wing I haven't done now looks so 'boring'!!

I used a soldering iron with a home made tip consisting of a phillips screwdriver tip inside a brass tube to 'burn' them screwheads in. Once I rub some black powder into them they'll come alive even more!

A few shots...

Question for the Eurofighter Pilots.

#1 Is the CG the same as the instruction book says or has it changed??
#2 What is typical weight less fuel ??

#3 What kind of fuel loads are some of you carring. The reason for the question is I have several
kevlar fuel cells that will work. one set is 120 oz and the other is 180 oz. I have a strong Ram 1000
air start that is putting out a true 28+ lbs.

Thanks Paul [8D] JPOFL

Paul,
I'm running the CG about 1/2" back from manual. Using dual muller kevlar tanks which give me 160oz on board, good for about 10 min flight. Dry weight is 26lbs.....

Guys,

I'm finished - just about. Got a jet meet tomorrow so done as much as I wanted to for that. Still to do afterwards will be...

1) New canopy - this one was from another EuroSport that I had to try and make fit - came up a bit small and was quite knocked about!
2) Missiles and bombs
3) More realistic jet nozzles

Overall, I'm very pleased - the only thing I'd painted before was a R/C car body!!!! As I stated all along it was always going to be 'semi' scale.

How d'ya think it turned out???

Excellent work Mark...your Euro is one of the nicest I have seen yet! please keep the progress photos coming.
Did you make the decals yourself?

Also Iam curious does anyone make a set of scale gear struts for the Euro?

Looks great! You did very nice on the paint, hard to believe it was your first time. I have painted a few car bodies too, hopefully my paint comes out as nice!:D

RE: EuroSport scale conversion so far.....

Thanks for the kind words.

I didn't make the decals, they are from Ralf Schneider - amazing value and a real gentleman to deal with. Check out his website...

I'm not sure if anyone makes a scale set of gear. If you find one be sure to let me know!! I'll post a few more shots of the underside soon.

Mark

Any clear coat over those decals? Or just leaving it with the dull cellulose and stickers may or may not stick?

schroedm 07-06-2004 01:40 PM

RE: EuroSport scale conversion so far.....

Sean,

I haven't clear coated over the cellulose/decals yet! It looks good at the moment and I'm paranoid that i'll spoil it right at the last minute! I suppose I'll have to clear it soon though!

Mark
