OK guys, here are 2 short video's I shot this morning using my wife's camera. ok I admit it's not the best but going to try again later to make a better video.

This is the start up:

And this is the run up:

Those LCD Monitors are a real PITA to film, huh?

I couldn't capture any decent info on my recordings either. I think you need just the right amount of light in just the right position...

yeah im going to set it up better next time. that was my first video I've done on youtube. but yeah you need just the right light to get a good shot of it.

Is it my computer because I could'nt see anything at all on the data terminal

BJ64 04-26-2010 06:01 AM

RE: JetJoe OWNERS thread

No - it was just dark Xair.

I had the same problems try to get mine to show anything on Vid. They can be a bit of a bugger to see on cam some times.

I am not sure yet which jet I would build.Anyway,if F16 is a choice,I would put JJ3000.If F-14 is a choice I would put 2xJJ1800 or JJ3000.

EDIT:Wingspan of both 58".I am not sure what would be the weight cuz I didn't choosed the material yet. What do you think is best material for high speed jet?

RE: JetJoe OWNERS thread

Well, I have a Jet Legend F-18 that weighs in at 33lbs. It is powered by the JJ3000 which produces 30lb’s of thrust. It fly’s very well with this turbine, great vertical performance and like others have said it drinks allot of fuel. I have a little over 2.5 liters of fuel and get about a 4.5 minute flight with a couple of go-around. I have since added another 32oz tank to get another 2 minutes of flight time. The JJ3000 starts easy and runs perfect.

RE: JetJoe OWNERS thread

So,I can buy JetJoe with no worry?

Xairflyer 04-26-2010 10:54 AM

RE: JetJoe OWNERS thread

Most turbines of that size seem to burn 600ml per min at full power, one price you have to pay for big thrust!

Jetbono 04-26-2010 12:08 PM

RE: JetJoe OWNERS thread

Yeah , thats right , this makes RC turbine less economical to larger gas turbines per Horse power delivery !!
So lets work hard to catch up in efficiency fellas ., lool http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/js/f.../msn/49_49.gif

RE: JetJoe OWNERS thread

I think the Hawk turbines and the big Simjet's seem to be the best in fuel efficiency per thrust

AdriFlyBoy 04-26-2010 01:48 PM

RE: JetJoe OWNERS thread

Will I be happy with JetJoe engine(thrust is adequate)?

RE: JetJoe OWNERS thread

Well, I have personally ran an flown two of JetJoe turbines. I have been flying a JJ14 on a Nitro Planes Super Falcon for the past year and have not problems. This turbine produces 14lbs of thrust. I now own and JJ3000 in the JL F-18 and have been running it for about 3 months now with out any problems as well. The JJ3000 produces about 30lbs of thrust. I would buy the turbines from Mark Harper at JetJoe USA. He has always been easy to work with in the past. Just my 2 cents worth.

AdriFlyBoy 04-26-2010 02:57 PM

RE: JetJoe OWNERS thread

You use single turbine on twin-turbine aircraft? Is that possible on F14 and other twin-turbines(as an example,I put 1xJJ3000 on F14)?

76Phantom 04-26-2010 03:04 PM

RE: JetJoe OWNERS thread

If you are talking about the Fly Eagle F-14 or something similar to that size then a single turbine will not be enough thrust. Most of the F-14's that I have seen are set up for twin turbines.

AdriFlyBoy 04-27-2010 07:45 AM

RE: JetJoe OWNERS thread

And for F16 it is enough?Or for MiG 28(fictional,but really cool)?

RE: JetJoe OWNERS thread

Was out flying the Boomerang today and I had Vortex's problem again, 64K odd on the screen and the start seq halted, discovered if you remove the glow lead off the plug it would then carry on with the start sequence until it timed out.

Tried numerous times to get it started and could'nt so had to use the glow lead from my flight box panel so I could get a flight.

When I got home I Rang a friend who works with electronics everyday and asked him and he said the 64K you are seeing is the frequency of the PWM for the glow plug, so now we know where the 64K comes from.[sm=thumbup.gif]

So going to have a better look tomorrow at what is different in the boomerang from the bobcat in regard to wire routing etc.

RE: JetJoe OWNERS thread

64K reading Maybe with time something goes amiss with the electronics for the glow plug circuit, a filter or something else in the ECU.

Good to know the freq of the EMI. very noticeable with a scanner set at 500khz also.

I've been thinking about sticking a JJR in one of these that I currently have in stock..
But first I'll have to get it setup for autostart I think..

RE: JetJoe OWNERS thread

Been doing tests all morning on the 64K saga, first wondered what was different in my Boomerang installation to the Bobcat and what I had removed when removing/re installing the turbine when I was messing with pre load.

Only one thing changed the glow plug wires. Took the glow plug out connected the boot to the top and held the ground wire to the side of the plug and done a start sequence, everything worked perfect glow ignited, and it went through about 5 start attempts then times out, no sign of a the 64K gremlin.
Screwed all back in again with the plug ground on one of the screws at the front case and the 64K gremlin was back but not as bad.

Took the ground wire off and held it against plug and all ok again. So I got a new eyelet to suit the plug and soldered on my ground wire and fitted it under the plug, better but occasionally 64K gremlin showed his head, so I knew it had to be contact between plug/eyelet and turbine case.
Cleaned up around the hole on the turbine case and scrapped the eyelet so it was nice and bright/clean, refitted and now perfect.
Suspect my plug was not making good contact with the case before, recon if I refitted my ground wire now to the front case screw it would probably be ok.

I think Mark in an earlier post mentioned grounding at the plug, I only changed from this in the past as I had difficultly getting a good seal, but will be keeping it under the plug from now on.

RE: JetJoe OWNERS thread

It kinda makes sense that if there is a dodgy earth, the FADEC may be going nuts trying to do all sorts of things to compensate - perhaps trying to supply more juice, since it may think it's not getting enough due to the bad earth etc (?).

Old Mazda cars were a real PITA with their 'double return earth' or whatever they called it. I had a dickie earth on one of my rear lights on my RX2 - it sent the rest of the electrics bonkers. Lights that weren't even turned on would intermittently illuminate, those that were turned on went out. All kinds of weird stuff - all because one lamp housing shield had a bad earth contact...

hi guys,
I have a jj 1200 that has little run time on it.(yes it does run nicely).
I am wanting to go with turboprop instead of jet. So it is for sale.

I dont know what to ask for it as it is used jet joe.

So if your intrested please pm me , I am located in ontario canada.

thank you chris pare
( I would have put in classifides but dont want to here the jj slamin)

RE: JetJoe OWNERS thread

You could put it in classifieds. That is the place for selling.
BTW,I gave up from JetJoe.I will save up a little bit more money and get Wren SS or K-80E or jetcat p80se instead of jetjoe 1800.I don't wanna lose 1000$ plane.
