Hi all, I was looking at getting the full auto 1400... I would like the 18lb thrust one more, anyone know how much longer? Anyway, do I need the ready to run accessories package for $169.00 or does the full auto version come with this stuff. I will upgrade the pump for another $100. I was also wanting the one piece tail cone but don't see it on the web, how much are these and where do you get them. Anything else I need? Thanks!

Hello,
JJ fans. I would like to announce that JJ will be at the Pro-Mark Superman Rally 4-7 Oct at Cape Girardeau Mo. We will have a display set up with demos. We will also have the new JJ 1800 (20 lbs thrust!) engine featured as well as several engines and other porducts on hand. There will a few 1400 and 1800 engines for sale.

Also, I will be heading up Jet Joe US for US sales up. I will have a website set up in less than a week. www.jetjoeus.com

I intend to be a point of contact for US sales and support.

Hope to see you there.

If anyone (airbuspilot) have photos of their JJ powered airplanes I would like to use them on my website.

Hope to see you there.

That's got to be the *worst* bit of HTML I've ever seen!

It's *huge* with masses of redundant style-sheet info.

I'm not familiar with MS Publisher but you really ought to use some other tool if that's the best code it can push out. It took about 20 seonds to load on my broadband connection and most of that was sitting, staring at a blank screen.

If you want any help, PM me.

The JJ site is the slowest at 6.5 minutes loading per page and Joes replies to emails sometimes never arrive. Is it me Gabrial [:-][:-][:-]???

RE: JetJoe OWNERS thread

I'm always looking for a good boat anchor and with a new JJ1800 its fair to remind folks that if you send your broken non running JJ to someone competent who has modded and ran these JJs for a few years they will provide a fair working turbine with one of the least residual values world wide for its price. Compared to the early days of Kurt's ply wood compressors these parts are of extraordinary engineering quality that barely fit together. They don't run mainly because the CC, injectors and manifolds are found usually to be SNAFU. That said I went to a show here on the weekend and saw two JJs flying on both days and not one of mine:D[8D][:).

Jetjoes are more for home turbine builders who like to open and repeatedly fix their turbines with new upgrade parts from Joe [:@][:@] like correct the metal inconel sticks in the Combustion Chambers, fuel manifolds, lube injectors, bearings and NGV's
drilled to spec etc Its raining this weekend so I might open mine to see it its fit to run for the next few months or if it will need some more replacements parts (if Joe replies)

Anyone test the 18lb yet?

Its giving 20-22lbs, the South African agent and some people in the UK have had short term 'hands on' usage. Still I'd think hard about being a beta tester again [:@][:@]sorting out running problems on CCs needles, lubrication, balancing. Sripping down and building up occasionally isn't a problem [:o]but I've had a PT75 and Behotec JP66 they ran and ran and ran with totally no issues for years:)[8D]. Its bit different when after getting them to work the CC then melts and you are the guinea pig tester without knowing it.

Jetman

I have a new CC that may fix your main problem of actually running it. The rest of the many fixes are posted here to resolve other problem areas. Its rather good as an anchor weight since its only a small boating lake. The racing guys once teathered a pulse jet to a fast sleek craft but it broke loose crossed a main road and entered someone kitchen [8D]:):Dif I recall correctly.

That depends if you can get it to run initially and then wether it continues to run sucessfully over the longer term. Keep in mind we want to fly jets of some value. Then of course if Joe answers his emails on the defects, replacements or technical questions. This 'self help' thread exists because early on there were no written instructions at all for either turbine or Fadec[:@][:@][:@]. The JJ pioneers or beta testers may have weathered the production QA/QC problems. Finally it may just depend on your local rep in sorting out the matters out before dispatch or subsequent operational matters.

Fernando

After you got your replacement CC I also emailed Joe saying as I'd bought two JJ engines would he post out the replacement 12 stick CCs, guess what no response, so I'm one of about 350 JJ owners with crap CCs. Then of course the discovery of the lack of lube flow to rear bearings meant that those who successfully ran theirs might loose the rear bearings in operation. Now if there is a known problem its up to Joe to rectify it. Plenty of guys who posted here and PM'd over are simply left with so much metal scrap or as I did, retro fitted replacement parts to get theirs operational.

As of just a few months ago this summer Joe was emailing to guys in Europe OZ and Canada saying try these settings on the Fadec when he knew the CCs were disintegrating inside. Its when owners find this thread that it becomes clear how at first if they get theirs to run then performance falls off and running problems arise because the CCs are not inconel sticks. They then get back to Joe who has decided not help everyone which is a commercial decision.

If you buy from a local JJ dealer then it must be fit to operate and they must fix it or get a recharge but those who bought direct from China are left to swing with no redress.

"Hi All,

I have a question about Combustion Camber. My old no Inconel CC last for about 3 hours till melted. Now I have installed a new Inconel CC, So how much time this CC should last?. Till now 5 cycle and 60 minutes and working great but not sure for how long"

"Hi airbuspilot

With TLC and very few hots starts it should last for the best part of your life time, seriously I've seen old inconel KJ66 and PT75 turbiners over 10 yrs old in very good order, so lets hope the new JJ last that long.

cheers Paul

Hello all, I had my first experience of a JJ1400 today. Watching a first attempt at starting the (full autostart) engine in an air frame by a turbine novice and was impressed at how straightforward it was. With the exception of a sticking propane valve it was faultless. The only dissapointing aspects were apparently slow acceleration and decel times (maybe 6 or more seconds), is this the best that can be acheived or will FADEC adjustments help?

Regards

Roger
