RE: JetJoe OWNERS thread
Ok. So this thread is 3 years old now and JJ is still in business. How are you guys who are flying them fairing? Good? Bad? I was at the Maine Jet Rally over the weekend and saw a lot of flying but have no idea if anyone was running one. Joe has had 3 years to get it right. How's he doing? I read I glowing report of Gabe, one of his US reps who is apparently in the process of moving to Florida.
So, tell me..... |

RE: JetJoe OWNERS thread
I Have two jj1800's which I have been running alternatively in a Boomerang XL to check there reliability. After rebalance of both engines & GKR bearings they have given good service.
They will now be mounted into my A10 Warthog My advice is be prepared to work on these turbines and you will be OK |

Yeah Mr. Raggoti, I know about your reputation here *, and your kind of help. And I have to believe that Mr. Pettit is a reliable source. Much more then you can normally expect here on these threads. ... zak :D * - That WorkMate line has really grown stale. [:'(] |

[:'(] How many hours do YOU have on YOUR JetJoe without having to have some kind of repair? How about helping out X8103 by answering HIS question? ANYBODY??? RE: JetJoe OWNERS thread
I think that the workmate statements are completely appropriate. Primarily because, apparently, that is where most JJ owners run them. Certainly it is very rare to see one flying!
So can anyone provide real data that these are in fact reliable engines??? Anyone with lots of un-modified flight hours???? |
RE: JetJoe OWNERS thread
rcguy! Its 'correct' I believe.... :)

RE: JetJoe OWNERS thread
As far as Dick Petit's review, we all know that he does a good job of building planes quickly and does "fairly" good quick reviews. This has nothing to do with the engine running more than a few flights. I didn't read the review so can't comment further.
The only other JJ I've seen was the one Dave saw. I saw it again at the Dayton D.O.G.S. show where the plane taxied out for takeoff and then the JJ almost burned the tail off. The guy said he was really sorry that he recommended the engine to his friends. Mark P - JetCat, Jet Central, Wren, and maybe one day;) a JJ owner. |
RE: JetJoe OWNERS thread
ORIGINAL: xp8103 rcguy! Its 'correct' I believe.... :) Thank You for calling that to my attention. I'll revise it without getting my nickers in a wad....... Now...if any JJ owners would like to comment on X8103 post on how they are doing? Dave |

So can anyone provide real data that these are in fact reliable engines??? Anyone with lots of un-modified flight hours???? Woketman, Read my last post. I fly my JJ1400 as often as I can. It works fine after being brought up to the last revisions. The flying has been in a junk pile of a Reaper that weigh about 16 lbs. It pushes it along fine. Could use more vertical. But a great test bed airframe. It starts and runs everytime I ask it to. DW_Crash |
RE: JetJoe OWNERS thread
OK, that's one. Anymore???

RE: JetJoe OWNERS thread
guys i need some help. my jj1400 after sitting about a month, now it won't start. meaning the propane is going in, the glow plug is lit, and it is turning the usual r.p.m. for start up. it just never pops and starts to ramp up. i went out after dark so i could watch what was going on through the cone. the glow plug is staying lit through the whole start up and you can smell the propane blowing out.
i pulled the chamber out and checked the small propane lines, they are all intact and they all flow well when i hook up and blow propane through them. i cant see anything out of the ordinary with the chamber out. so i re-assembled and tried gain, still no pop! the only other thing different from the last flight is i took out the propane solenoid and put a festo and small valve at the engine. i hooked the propane solenid back up just for giggles and still no pop. any ideas? thank's jeff |
RE: JetJoe OWNERS thread
Jeff
Two things come to mind too much propane or a bad glow plug. Just because the plug lights doesn't mean it good. |
RE: JetJoe OWNERS thread
fw, thanks man. i tried different settings with the regulator and valve that didnt help so i think i will put it back the way it is supposed to be and change the glow plug. jeff

RE: JetJoe OWNERS thread
I'm sure you have to prise the glow coil with a pin, carefully to make it protude out just a fraction. Does that make sense.
Regards Nick. |

Starzak,
You have to admit, that was pretty funny, even by East Coast standards. I had Coffee coming out of my nose when I read it. Bob |
