Hi Mr. Likai,

Thank you for the suggestion. I have done that now and the linkage is trully horizontal.

Vinny,

Thanks for the pictures. As soon as all the doors are done, its flying time :D Hopefully the warm weather holds for another week or so otherwise its on to the paint expert - Chip..

Adil.

The gear doors look homemade. Why didn't you use the ones in the kit? More pictures of how they are set up, please.

Hi David,

WE will be using the supplied gear doors but were playing around with homemade ply ones to get them perfected. We wanted the easist set up and use doors since there are 3 per main gear.

I will definitely post more pictures once there are completed. 3DHELINUT is actually helping me with the mains. The nose one is already done.

Did you get your F-4? How do you like it?

Thanks - Adil

RE: Skymaster F-4E phantom

Guys,

DHL dropped off my F-4E a couple hours ago. I've been unpacking it ever since and I gotta say, WOW!!! This kit is on a whole different level of quality than the old SkyMaster kits. The quality of the glasswork is easily the level of the German scale kits I've seen or built! It is simply beautiful and LIGHT! The fit of the main turbine hatch line is almost invisible! The raised hatches on the wings and vertical are great! The wing to fuse joint, the vertical stab to fuse joints are perfect! The landing gear also reaches the quality of the German gear. It is beefy, strong and well machined. If this plane flies as well as the kit looks, it will be absolutely awesome!

So far the only concern I can see, which may or may not turn out to be valid, is the absence of any longitudinal carbon fiber strips in the fuselage layup. The Germans use a sandwich of foam in certain stress areas such as the nose and along the waist of the aircraft. You can see them easily in the fuse of the AirWorld Hawk thru the front cockpit, for example. Other mfgrs lay in a strip of carbon fiber instead. It would seem to add a measure of durability as well as strength in those areas. The Phantom does not use either of these methods, but instead just has the standard layup of glass. I may decide after further study to add some carbon to the nose area and thru the wing saddle area, just for personal preference, but we'll see.

All in all. I am very impressed with what Anton has put together in this kit! The Phantom is my all time favorite military jet! So far, this kit does it justice!

If there are any specific pictures you guys would like to see, just let me know. I'll take them and post later.

David S

Adil,

My nose gear doors are missing. Did you get them with yours? I would like to see pictures of your mock ups before you put the final doors on as well.

David,

Did yours come painted?

Raf,

No, I got the basic white. I'd rather put my own scheme on it. I'm not sure if SkyMaster has actually started to produce the painted models yet.

David

I'll be in San Dog in a couple of weeks and if the timing works out, I'd love to take a look at the bird. I've been gnawing on that bird since I first saw the plug. hopefully it'll be around for a while, i've got a couple of projects on the bench already.

take care

Hi,

The bird is all done and being worked on painting and detailing. I was hoping to have it done a little sooner to test fly it before winter set in but I could not. Being its too cold to fly now, I opted to start the paint process...

I'll post some new pictures as soon as I can.

Hi,

Just a size comparison for those who have seen the MB339 from Skymaster. Will do some flying with Jetcat P-160 this weekend and hopefully get some pictures and video.

I will not deal with AirPack ever again ( bad experience ) , and i think the only F4's and other new SM planes are coming for SkyMaster directly. Im mactually not getting a SM F-4 yet ;), just busting on a friend who is waiting one anxiously ... ( inside joke )

Hi Patrick,

After much debate, wrestling, fighting (with Chip - the master painter), I had to agree on this one.

I am looking forward to FJ-07. I'm itching to fly since I have not flown now for over a month :(

Thanks - Adil

Pretty much the plane is ready and being prepped and painted now. I was having trouble finding some good pilots originally but I found some good ones as well.

Originally, I was going to ask Wojy since I heard he has a nice big selection of dolls but then Alan mentioned that those won't work as they are kinda large and of the inflatable varielty :D:D

Adil, that is such a fine choice. I got my eye on this plane. I'll wait to see Davids fly in person but this
seems to be one sweet machine.
