RE: Katrina

Very glad to hear that you guys are OK.The same can't be said unfortantly for many others, the death toll is climbing. The devastation & ruins is just sickening, the pictures rolling in off the press put a pit in your stomach. It just doesnt seem fair some times when we(ohers away from the disaster) carry on with our everyday lives sometimes as if nothing has happened in other regions of the country. So what I have decided to do is donate a very sizeable contribution from my company .I'm just waiting for Red Cross to start the donations campaign.I am giving 10,000 dollars, not alot when you consider what the survivors/victims will need but its a good start. If I can help atleast one family try to get their life started again that makes me feel good.My family & I are also gathering ample clothing & canned goods to send that way.I have a big famliy here so we can gather alot of goods to pass on.

best regards,
Steve

One thing that really pisses me off on this whole situatioin is the looting[:@]. I may get jumped on here but I don't give a poop, shootem' on sight with no questions asked. The looters already shot one policeman.

In this situation, I don't have a problem with people taking formula, water, food, or diapers, but what the hecll are you going to do with a big screen TV and CD's? It is utter chaos there right now.

RE: Katrina

Your right Tommy about taking items that are really needed to sustain life. I don't have a problem with that. The police should check each person looting and the ones looting unnecessary items, shoot them. Maybe just in the leg so they don't come back and steal more stuff. They were just showing looting on TV and it got my dander up.

Worst of all is that the experts are saying that storms like this one are likely to happen again in
shorter intervals in the U.S. and Caribe...

Hope that you guys do as good as possible, Enrique

Yeah, I agree with Bob. Have heard rumors of looting in Slidell. Just hope they don't run off with my MPX Profi 4000!

Have heard that damage in our neighborhood is light, perhaps even no flooding. But nothing is yet confirmed. Mike's (TopGun2Mo) is very close to ours. Hoping for the best.

For some it can't get much worse. My friend who purchased a retirement home in Bay St. Louis said his neighbor called and can't even find where his house once stood! It was a brick home with lots of trees and a huge block and brick fireplace in the living room. It's all gone. Of course he lived right on the beach.

RE: Katrina

Guys

Yes this whole ordeal is really sad & heart wrenching. It is getting worse by th minute too,I just heard the news say 2-3 months to restore power in New Orleans!! This is the worse natural disaster I have seen in my time(9-11 was the worse of course-mankind induced). If I were still in the Coast Guard I would go down to help in heartbeat. And yes as mentioned above the Red Cross is already open for business and taking anything you can spare.I just left one of their dropoffs here with my trailer,I dropped off 8 boxes of misc. clothes, sheets, etc etc a,along with my monitary donation-I gave them a sizeable check from my business. That was the best feeling I have even had and I am just very glad I can help in such a big way.

Whatever we can give makes all the difference,no matter how small or great. Our donations-5 ,10,20,several thousand, etc etc.Whatever you can financially spare, they need the monitary contributions most importantly of course!! I was told just an hour ago when I arrived, after my donation Va Beach here has already taken in approx. 150,000 since 9am .That is just amazing to me ,its great when everyone comes together & gives to such a great cause

regards,Steve

Thanks guys. Mike Morgan (TopGun2Mo), I've been trying to call you all day. I just keep getting that damn message about the hurricane or a busy signal. Call me on the cell. And call the Lockheed Martin 800 check-in line at 800-563-8442 and then call the HR guy (Floyd Teiffel) at 303-977-8122. Please tell all Lockheed Martin MAF employees that you talk to that they must call too.

Thanks everyone.

Thanks Mark. I gave them a call. I'll try and give you a shout later. Is there a land line # I can reach you at? PM me if there is.

It seems I can make calls anywhere except a New Orleans or a Northshore exchange. I have no problem calling Baton Rouge or Houston.

I also have to say that the help that the State of Texas and City of Houston has given to the refugees is exceptional.

Mark, I think you and I are some of the lucky ones compared to what I have seen.

Gald to hear that the MS & LA jet guys came out for the most part ok. Such a tradegy for others not so lucky. Each day I watch the news and it appears to get worst. I really feel for everyone down there who lost everything. And the looting, Bob I'm with you on that one. I mean what are they going to do with the merchandise? Come on there is water everywhere and no power. As for food and water I figure that is at least the lesser evil.

We have been worried sick about our friends along the coast and inland of Katrina's wake. Has anyone heard from David Pippen, Dave Bertrand, or George Garzon and his crew. These guys live in New Orleans, and George lives in Alabama. Hopefully they moved to higher ground before the kaos. Anyone with news, check in. Glad to hear our friends in Baton Rouge, and Miss. are OK.

Jack, I have heard nothing from any of them. I believe that David lives in Metairie. I sent George an e-mail, but have not heard back yet. I will post if I do.

Things are going down hill in Baton Rouge.

Baton Rouge is now the Largest city in Louisiana and over the last few days has
doubled in size. I just came from the gas station were all they has was diesel.
It was the 4th station I went to and all were out of everything. As I pumped the diesel
Cars keep pulling in behind me thinking they are were going to get some gas.
Then they found out there was no gas, then they tried to back up, got out and
Started screaming at the people behind them. Horns blowing, birds flying.. ect..
Some dude ask me for money. I got out of there as soon as I could.
I don’t think its going to get better anytime soon.

Eddie,
Keep your head down out there man. It looks like it is going to get worse before it gets better. Hopefully the fuel will begin to flow again soon in Baton Rouge, probably the supplies were devastated by the evacuation. The fires, gunfire, and looting in New Orleans makes it look like a mini Armageddon. It is a dangerous situation.
