Kinda hard to judge "interest" without establishing a price? I'll bet there would be plenty of "interest" at sub $2,000USD.

It's news to me, I've not been told anything along those lines by the factory.

I have just been playing with the video camera and editing software while out check running a bunch of engines

What surprised me about the Super Bee was the low residual thrust at idle for this size of engine and the absence of any compressor 'whistle' noises. Usually I have found very small engines to have still quite high idle thrust, even as much as 40%-50% of their max rating.

Can you state specifics on your findings? What turbines and how much idle thrust do the ones you say have 40%-50% of their max rating? Wren? JectCat? Simjet? Make and models PLEASE!!!!!! After all you're a rep for some. I'd hate to see BS being thrown about...

MW 44 well the oly thing that sucks is the 3LB thrust at idle ,,i will still be flying hehehe

Where did you get these numbers ? There is NO way that it has 1.5 kgs ,or lbs for that matter , at idle. Just checked my test stand numbers and I'm getting 2lbs at 128K , 4 lbs at 160k and 6 lbs at 180k . Full throttle thrust was 8 lbs 4 oz . Temps were very low as well . Only 490 deg at full .

I didn't get that figure but thrust builds up exponentially with turbine engines related to rpm. It took 73k rpm over idle to get 2 lbs . Another 32 to get 4 . 20 more for 6 and 15 more for 8 lbs. The thrust was negligable at idle . I guess that's why I didn't record it .

You didn't say where your figures came from.

Sorry, been away awhile, I should have been for specific. I was not referring to any commercial engines, just my own previous experience with the smaller homebuilt engines I made in the past. Generally I have flying high thrust stuff, I am surprised just how low the thrust will go on these latest small engines [X(]

The MW44 idle figures will have the decimal point in the wrong place, I'm sure :)

I'll get in touch with Wren and point out the error . On that page the idle thrust for the MW 54 and Supersports work out to .5 lbs . One lb is 4.5 N . The little engine is even less so if there was a decimal place shift as Robrow guesses , the thrust should be .33lbs or 5 oz.

Today's a public holiday in the UK so I'm a little slower than usual. I wasn't going to do much work today but I just checked the emails and found a stack of mails directing me to this post. Thanks, everyone! It's good to know we have people keeping an eye on things.

I've found the root of the problem. The MW44 Idle Thrust in the first official set of statistics (2004) was listed as 1.5 N. Somewhere along the line the Newton has been transposed to Kilograms. The correct figure is .33 pounds or 0.15 Kg. That was the original figure, and I expect the figure for the new Gold is very similar. I will check with Mike Murphy tomorrow when we are back at work.
