RE: Nitro models pusher Bobcat?

I am using 81 MG servos 1 on each rudder and two on the elevator on the Bobcat on a 6V system...more than enough power.
Are all of the gears in the 81's metal or is the pinion still nylon as are some other MG Hitecs? My concern with these would be gear slop. Gear slop on the elevator of this plane would not have a good ending. Typically MG servos develope slop much faster than nylon. I used a pair of HS-85BB's on the elevator with a 5-cell pack. They are extremely tight with absolutely no slop at all (brand new of course) and the pair is a total of 98 oz. of torque. They should hold up just fine but I'll know more when I get some airtime on them.

Quote 'm thinking of installing the ELE servo on the EVE STUBZ ,
i'm looking for an installation tips and built pictures (?)

Hi Guys re the setup, Mine Is the same as the plans suggest , stock set up works well .I did split the elevators though as there was no way I would be able to get both servos working together without them binding In some way . works fine for me .

Servos I am using are BMS-380MAX, metal gears 57oz torque which Is heaps for such a small elevator
With the number of flights that I have had and that is a lot ,there is no signs of any wear and tear, so metal gears would be fine If you want to use them,
Cheers G

I picked up the Bobcat a while back and I am now getting around to putting it together. I have a question regarding the thrust angle. This is my first pusher. When facing the front of the engine from behind the plane what direction should the engine point to (left/right)? Since you have to mount the engine blocks the mount doesn't really force you to install it in a particular orientation. It looks like it's supposed to point to the right. Is that correct?

I would just try and getting It pointing straight back In line, But In saying that mine ended up pointing slightly to the right also.

It does not seem to have any bad effects If It does that. I would not worry about It too much . One thing though make sure that it is balanced laterally as mine had one wing a bit heavier than the other .

I just got my retract ready version today, and it appears different from the pics I have seen here. I look truly retract ready. Bolt on, plumb and go.

Can you post pictures of the wheel wells..?

It came brown :-)

I will try to get some pics soon.

Where can i see the retract ready version ?

Also, for those who put a turbine on the bobcat - did you modify \ reinforce anything ?

RE: Nitro models pusher Bobcat?

look on Nitro models website for pics..

For turbine conversion, go here, and look about 2/3 of the way down the page for "Bobcat 50 conversion"

Same here, about an ounce to the right wing tip. Although I think it is mostly due to the muffler. I drilled a 5/16" hole with a piece of sharpened brass tube in the solid part of the wing tip, rolled up a square of sheet lead and glued it in the hole. Cut the very tip off the plug that came out of the brass and glued that back over the hole, you can barely notice it was ever drilled out. I laterally balance all of my planes, maybe overkill but I think it's worth the time.

Stick Jammer.
My model needed balance as well, like all my models recieve.Laterall balancing is not an overkill, it is TRUE perfection.

Yayne thats a great review !!

i have 2 questions:

1. which fuel tank was used and how big ?
2. how does it fly ?

It definitely makes you wana do a conversion !!

If you mean me,........... that is not my bobcat. One of the other posters here documented everything and was kind enough to share his experiences with everyone.. I just bookmarked it....

Hi i3dm
My bobcat is stock as a rock...the only mods I did was to cut in retracts...Springair 301 firewall mount and JR DS361
digital servos throughout I also made a custom aluminium engine mount. This particular engine produces 3.9kg of thrust so it pushes 3.6kg of aeroplane around with sparkling performance. It is great fun to fly...goes where I point it and gets there real quick.
Hope this helps.
Kind Regards
Craig Dyer

If you don't mind me asking, what was your total cost for that plane RTF...not including the raio??

Hi to all!!

What do you think about to use this model with a JetJoe JJ1400 without modifications in the wings?
Do you thinks that it will resist?

With the inconsistent building quality we have all noticed, I would not put a turbine on it without opening it up and checking the workmanship and glue joints and reinforcing where required.... Colchester models in England have a turbine ready version, though.........

also a 1400 is way too much engine..an mw-44 would be better suited ...

Anyone know what length servo extensions I need to buy...just started construction....

RE: Nitro models pusher Bobcat?

36" to reach the rudders (48" if you are going to mount the elevator servo in the stab) 12" for the ailerons......
