Ok
The decals are really good. You get a great package of various chemicals as well, a cleaning cloth, abrasive pad and CD ROM. Great stuff Ralf, also the MDC looks great. [8D] Paul |

RE: FOX COMPOSITES Bae HAWK, Build thread
All,
Maybe someone can lead me in the right direction for a lightweight 1/7 scale figure for our Hawks otherwise it is going to look a little bare?. Trevor Skedge |
RE: FOX COMPOSITES Bae HAWK, Build thread
hi all who will be the uk dealer for the fox composites thanks jetman
|
RE: FOX COMPOSITES Bae HAWK, Build thread
Jetman,
Are you going to the Jet AGM because Jim will be over and I think the decision will be made there when he meets with the various traders. Trevor Skedge. |
RE: FOX COMPOSITES Bae HAWK, Build thread
yes trevor i will be there thanks for that also what weight did your hawk come out at regards jetman
|
RE: FOX COMPOSITES Bae HAWK, Build thread
Jetman,
12.5lbs dry. Flys realy nicely but Pauls with the MW44 is 2lbs lighter although mine with the 44 in weighed 11lbs. I would guess the retracts were a little heavier in mine and I am not sure if Paul has balanced stabs because this would make a lot of difference as mine with the weight in are quite heavy. I must stress that this is an early pre-production kit and believe the production kits are lighter and maybe Jim will leave out the stab weight and let the builder decide as do other manufaturers. I will be flying it at the AGM meet on the Sunday and if you are there you will be able to decide for yourself. I love it!! Trevor Skedge. |
RE: FOX COMPOSITES Bae HAWK, Build thread
Yep
I have unbalanced stabs, i see no problem with that. See you at the AGM.. Paul |
RE: FOX COMPOSITES Bae HAWK, Build thread
Paul,
Yes, not a problem if the stabs are light, unbalanced and driven by high power/quality servos. Trevor Skedge. |

OK chaps.
Well, got some news tonight, University lecturer is not coming next week so it has been put off for 3 weeks :D So i can get the decals on next week.[8D] Anyway, did the underside of the wing today, fitted the vac formed parts. No instructions on how to do this so I filled the bottom of them with balsa 1/4 thick and glued to wing with RC Modellers glue. Pics are self-explanatory. All being well, weather permitting she will fly tomorrow. Off the local grass strip, not ideal for a test flight but hey...what the heck  Paul ;) |

Well chaps.
The weather was fine, full engine run tests and ground range was all excellent. The fuselage does not even get slightly warm at full throttle. The forced cooling works really well. Taxi trials showed great ground handling. So fuel up and go fly. Take off roll was awesome, acceleration on grass, no problem. I had take off flap in and with a tiny application of elevator she was airborne. Ailerons were hell, really sensitive, but flyable. Took flaps off and nose went up, but once I removed the slight up I was holding in it was slightly nose down. I had to put some up trim in and a little aileron trim but; by god was this thing fast! I throttled back to half throttle and it was still very quick. I pulled gentle wide sweeping turns and all was well. I was at about 300ft and pulling a turn, I was travelling fairly quickly, but throttled down to half. As I pulled the turn I seemed to lose control of the aircraft and it went into a dive, I tried to pull out gently but she would not have it. At this point I was too low to recover and throttled off. [sm=cry_smile.gif][sm=cry_smile.gif] I am afraid the model was a right off. See picture before and after. I have not really had a chance to do a full post mortem yet. I will post when I have found the will to go and examine the wreckage. [&o] |

RE: FOX COMPOSITES Bae HAWK, Build thread
Paul,
Sorry all did not go well, do you think it g-flicked in the turn or radio loss? Trevor Skedge. |
RE: FOX COMPOSITES Bae HAWK, Build thread
So sorry for you Paul.:(
I hope you find the cause. |
RE: FOX COMPOSITES Bae HAWK, Build thread

RE: FOX COMPOSITES Bae HAWK, Build thread
So sad. Send the MW44 home to us for a checkup, Paul, even if it appears to have survived OK.
