Loaded Eurofighter build thread
I am about to start a Comp ARF Eurofighter build for a friend and although there have been a few threads on this topic, Mark Schroeder (the owner) - had to name him so he can take the blame - has assured me ;) there will be general interest especially as this jet will be loaded in terms of accessories etc.
Please chip in with advise, suggestions and mods etc as things progress. As a basic plan the kit will sport a G-booster, twin pipes and smoke, drop tanks and various items or ordinance, nav and landing lights, 2.4 plus the usual electronics and an array of vents, scoops and other detailing. Marc |

Started my euro a few months ago, but had to pop it on hold due to work. Merlin160, tams bi-pipe and tams nozzles. I have the missile, tank, u/c door and airbrake kits too, but no instructions as yet[&o] I am just working on an F15 and then it's back to the Euro. Chris |

Chris, any chance of letting me know if the Tams twin pipe exits are parallel to each other, not sure of the make of the unit I have but the tail pipes are way off, meaning the exiting sections are out of alignment.
I put a steel rule on the unit I have to show just what I mean, although not sure if this is how they are meant to be! marc |

Marc, I just recently had one (Tams pipe) made for the new Comp ARF ES Evolution and the ends were equal...Pipe fit like a dream!!!

Hi folks. I´m on. I am building a semiscale Euro painted in the standard coulors of the Swedish airforce. Grey, grey and some grey that is. I´m planning for a JetCat P-160 and a straight duct. But I´m interested in landinglights.

OK done an hour or so tonight so far and apart from some issues with a poorly made twin pipe I have started work at the front!
Added around 26g of lead shot in a 30min epoxy/microballons mix to each canard to help achieve static balance to prevent flutter. I have seen some installations of the canard servo set up and often though it was not ideal, probably just me being overly critical but nevertheless have decided to experiment with a twin servo option. It may not work in which case I will resort to the standard setup. Adding extra weight with another servo and the resulting matchbox is far outdone by the use of Lipo in the nose so don't foresee any issues on this front. The aim is to get a short 'straight' linkage without having to use ball joints at both ends of the linkages to take up the angles involved. In the picture you can see the idea and proposed positioning. Back to it later...... |

I'll have ES Evolution sitting on the bench and waiting for some free time to start the project. It's my first jet (exept smaller electrics). Building should not be the issue for me, but it is always nice to see how peoples will make their own modifications. I will paint ES for own designed sport jet scheme. G-Booster 160 will also waiting for home... When project starts I'll start new building thread for showing my modifications and constructions. Kimmo |

Fritz nice work as usual, great to see some pics of the air brake as well, I have the kit supplied for this so will be interested to see as many of these as possible.
OK sorted out the pipes, after a few mails and a conversation the supplier has agreed to re-make them so the exit nozzles are parallel to each other, should collect from Jetpower in 4 weeks time. Have worked out and mounted (temporarily) the two 8411's to give the best overall linkage set up for the canards, just need to wait now for the mounting hubs for the canard shafts to arrive (see pic of 6.5mm version - supplied by Servocity who carry a great range of items for tackling all sorts of servo and linkage problems :)) and I can complete the linkages. Still pondering over how to fix the front of this servo tray in the nose without removing a section to fit a fixing in - any ideas out there? marc. |

So seems looking back at this thread that there is alot of use of additional carbon in areas around the front gear and rear section - are there known weaknesses in these areas?

The nose had to come off!
I could not come up with a secure forward fixing that would allow the servo deck to be removable, to gain access to batteries and servos without getting into the nose cone area. Took the nose off forward of the decks foremost position, and fabricated a notched piece of FR4 board. The securing will be done via a carbon rod fixed to the servo tray that passes into the notch, this in tern should keep the front section secure. The tray will be secured at the servo end via some screws into beach block mounted to a former which will be aeropoxied into the base of the nose just forward of the canard mountings. Finished the front servo/battery tray today, made up a new mounting beam and former for the servo end of the tray to fix to with 3 screws.
Have started to look at the speed brake kit supplied with the ES, and have no idea as to who makes the SB kit, can anyone identify it and let me have the details as I am trying to fathom out how the whole lot is intended to go together. If anyone has experience of this aftermarket speed brake kit any help greatly appreciated;) marc |
