RE: Another Skymaster Viper
Thats sounds like a good mod. Ihave to say all three of my fins have had a little movement at the front, but nothing major.
Do you have any photos of the mod, as Imight put it on the next one we are doing. Regards Al |

I don"t know exactly what henry did to my Viper vertical, but it will not come loose or move at all, rock solid, but then again it is Henry.

RE: Another Skymaster Viper
Am having trouble fitting the tail pipe. Although only spent 3 mins on it as had to go to work.
Looks to be tight through the hatch to the extent that if forced will crease the pipe or damage the hatch frame. Is everyone else sharing this problem. First thought is to modify the rear pipe former to allow the forward section of the pipe to pass then fit a new rear pipe former to the modified rear former opening. |
RE: Another Skymaster Viper
Philjac,
The pipe won't fit in through the engine hatch. You have to go in through the canopy opening. You have to take this into account when you locate everything (fuel tanks, air tanks, etc.) so you don't trap it in permanently. In any case, once everything is assembled it takes some effort to get it back out. Fortunately, it also slides well rearward (out the back) to allow plenty of access to the engine and other components in that area, without removing it completely. RE: Another Skymaster Viper
I did actually think of that whilst writing the initial post. Thanks for confirmation. I may still modify the rear former to allow access without disturbing the forward installation. I can imagine a time when the vertical fin needs to be removed and to have to strip half the aircraft for access puts a real damper on things.

RE: Another Skymaster Viper
I had this issue too. There is no way it will go through the engine hatch and I sure as hell couldn't get it in through the cockpit (unless they have changed the internals now somehow?)
I assume you know you can pull the bell mouth part off? I also cut away the 'nodules' on the rear former so I could slide the pipe in and out easily. I then simply made a secondary former with an I.D of that of the pipe O.D and screwed this former to the remains of the original former I'd cut back. Hope that helps? Mark |

Thats the exact mod i plan. Here i was thinking i was the only smarty to think of it.http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/js/f...eeth_smile.gif</p> |
RE: Another Skymaster Viper
Started my Viper build and am in the process of laying out the components. Is there a problem mounting the fuel and smoke pumps on top of the lower flat top fuel tank? Will this cause static problems?
Thanks in advance, Steve Morris |
RE: Another Skymaster Viper
Mine is like that.
30 plus flights with no problems. |
RE: Another Skymaster Viper
Thanks Jeff,
It starts out with what seems like a huge area to work with. But if you add smoke, etc., when you get down to the last few components, your options are slim. My kit came with 1 large and 2 small air tanks. I assume the large is for retracts and doors and the other 2 for brakes? |
RE: Another Skymaster Viper
Yes.
Large tank for retracts and doors. Small tanks for brakes. |

Errr..
Yes. one small and the large tank for the doors/brakes and the other small for the brakes. Thank Philjac. Tired long day.. |
RE: Another Skymaster Viper
I am a little confused with my turbine install and have a few questions for you guys who have built this jet with a P-200: I'm assuming you used the narrower engine mount rails? Did you have to cut and shorten the intake extension to fit the P-200? Did you Hysol it to the intake? Should the front of the turbine be snug against it or behind it slightly? Is the pipe distance from the cone 20 or 25mm? Finally, does the end of the heavy duty pipe extend beyond the end of the fuz or flush with it?
Thanks to any and all who can help me. I really appreciate it. Steve |
RE: Another Skymaster Viper
Hi Al,
What do you mean by increasing the venting? What is the fix? Thanks, bb ORIGINAL: Ali All going well so far apart from the need to increase the venting to the main tanks. Regards Al |
RE: Another Skymaster Viper
I switched from the stock tank hardware and went with BVM parts. It should vent the tanks better and prevent the back pressure on filling. I'm anxious to wrap up the install to see how well they work.
