Wing install
-Use 5/16" drill bit and drill out the holes for the 5/16" aluminum wing anti-rotation pins. -Taper the end of the pin on the belt sander. -Slide the pin in (snug fit) -Slide it through the fuse into the opposing hole. -On each side you will leave the pin sticking out about an inch. This will need to be cut to length and tapered on the other end. -The pins will fit into the corresponding holes in the wing chris |

-Cut out the 1" hole for wing tube socket to slide through.
-If you look on the inside of the fuse you can see the hole profile that you can use as a guide. Trim out the opening slowly until you come up to the ply. There is a sandwiched piece of 1/8" ply in the wing area at the fuse and this 1" hole is cut into the ply before layup, so you will just be trimming out carbon fiber and fiberglass until you hit the ply. -Trim out until the wingtube fits in snuggly. -Slide the wingtube socket through the fuse and then slide wings over socket and into place. The 20" long wingtube needs to be evened out on both sides into the retract area. -Make sure everything is lining up right as far as the wing on the fuse. -You may want to keep in mind that the fairing above the wing that gets glued to the fuse will need to fit against the top part of the wing profile on the fuse. If the wing is not fit up properly then these pieces might not fit properly. You may want to try and fit these up before hand. I take them to the belt sander and slowly take them down until the flange around them fallsoff. chris |

-Evenly mark and drill a pilot hole between front rotation pin and wing tube.
-These will later be drilled out for the nylon wing bolt to slide through. -Slide wing back into place and mark through hole and onto root wing former. -There is a ply doubler in this area and it can be drilled and tapped for the nylon wing bolt. You can use some thin CA glue on the threads and tap it again to harden the threads. chris |

After everything is lined up good, tighten both wings against fuse using nylon wing bolts. Make sure your wingtube is still even through both sides into the wings. You can now glue the 1" socket to the fuse from the inside. After glue sets you can slide the wings off the wing tube socket and trim the socket off at the outside of the fuse. I use a palm sander to take it down flush with the fuse on the outside. The two left over pieces will be glued into the wing.

-Slide the extra pieces into the wing.
-You will want them to slide in about 1/16" past the second rib into the retract area. -They should also be flush with the wing skin at the root so they will stick out about 1/16" past the root former. Glue it in place You can then cut the aluminum wing tube to the full length of the socket from wing to wing. For extra support you will want the aluminum socket to go in past the second former just like the socket. chris |

Rear wing
-You can take and make a template off the rear wing profile for aligning the holes to be drilled out in the verticle stabs. -Drill the holes out for for the self tapping screws. -This time i just drilled out a hole big enough for the servo leads. -line up the holes on the verticle stab with the holes on the rear wing and tap them in with the self tapping screws chris |

RE: CGRCJets A-10 Build Thread
Ok Mike, point made. This is a build thread, not a political discussion on measurement. Most rulers and guages in the UK have inches and mm on, I'm sure we can work it out.

RE: CGRCJets A-10 Build Thread
Curious Mike I had to do the same some times. Threw away the metric hardware to replaced them for standard ones. Is just witch one is easiest to find locally. Now we can find all kind of hardware over the net to satisfy our needs. I spent few dollars in two sets of builders screws one Metric and one US. That will sort out my needs when the next build start.;)

RE: CGRCJets A-10 Build Thread
With the screws you will need two sets of tools and two sets of drills [:@] all to mix up and which set do you take to the field.

RE: CGRCJets A-10 Build Thread
I thought the screws all accepted a basic #1 #2 #3 phillips screw tip? Anyways, i guess us guys here in the U.S. are use to having metric and standard tools.
On a brighter note, the pylon molds are finished. I will be pulling them tomorrow and getting them ready for the first parts. Unfortunately i had only made one plug for the fuse pylons and inner wing pylon. I will have to make 2 more fuse pylon molds and 1 more inner wing pylon mold. chris |

I will go over the rudder servo cut out again even though it is on page 1. Trying to keep this all in one area so its easy to find.
-I used a drum sander on a dremel and shaved the corner away after i marked it out. Dont shave the recess for the cover completely away in this area. -I then used a 1/16" cutter and cut at my marks from the inside ,out toward the part i had shaved off. You will also leave about a 1/16" on the inside by the flange that you bolt to the rear wing. I used the 1/16" cutter to cut the remainder out. I then used a 1/8" flat end mill type cutter with a guard set up at a depth to leave that 1/16" on that back side where the mount is. You can just ride the guard against the outside of the the stab. I marked with permanent marker ,the recess showing how much of it you will leave. -Measurements. You will notice that the recess is pretty much shaved completely away in this picture. Dont shave it away this far. You will leave about a 1/16" inch of this for the servo and cover to sandwich this area. chris |

I glued the elevator hinges in today. More glue on the backsides of the hinges like the aileron.
If i was not taking all these pictures and logging the build, the build would be going much faster. chris |

-This ply area towards the trailing edge inside the rear wing will need to be built up with basswood to where it makes contact with the formers in the tail section of the fuse. You will need to drill out 2 holes in the bottom of the wing to insert 2 screws that will go through the ply former of the wing and basswood and up into the ply fuse formers. Make sure you fix the incodence on the rear wing before you do this. Fixing the incodence is described on page 6.
-Picture of it being built up. -You will have to cut and glue a piece of ply for the inside leading edge area. This will make for extra support of a dowel for mounting. -Spot where the dowel will be glued in. chris |

Pylon molds are just about ready for layup. I used an epoxy spray can paint on them (not 2 part ofcourse) but am not use to the long dry time so i will be laying them up tomorrow. I usually use a vinylester for surface coat that cures quickly but did not want to mix a whole batch just to spray these few pylon parts. I have some catching up to do on these.
