JR Radio Issue - Elevators on two different channels
So I was re-doing a radio install on a King Cat today and had the elevators on two separate channels using JR's dual elevator function. The channels used were Channel 3 and 10. When I moved the elevators, they moved at different rates. It's almost like the signal was being processed at different speeds.
When I put them both on the same channel (using a Smart-Fly EQ-10) they move at exactly the same rate. So, since the servos speed is not the problem, it is either a problem in the EQ-10, although I doubt it since it just transfers the signal from the receiver, or it is a difference in the receiver. Any help or insight appreciated. Chad |

Sounds like you are using a 10X. Is that correct?

I was gonna upgrade my 10x to the 12 for the very reason that the 12 channels were identical, is this not the case ? john</p> |

Is 3 and 10 the default dual elevator channels? I am a Futaba guy, but I thought you needed to mate the channels to put them in sync with each other. This way the signal will go out for both channels in the same frame. |

Like the new avatar. They are not the default, I selected channel 10 as the "mate" in the radio. It's my understanding that the radio should now treat channel 10 just like channel 3, however when moving the servo quickly, you can definitely see a lag between the two servos. Like I said above, I just put them on the same channel and this solved the problem, I was just curious if anyone else had seen this problem. Chad |

I know futaba sends out their signal in packets....like channel 1, 2, 3 and 4, then 5, 6, 7, and 8. Whenever I group two servos together, I make sure to have them on lower channels. Like channel 1 and 2. Not sure if JR is the same or not. But this is one of the biggest reasons I left JR and went futaba. I fly helicopters and not matter what I did I could never get my swash to move level with my JR (9303).
Try using channels close together and see if that helps. |

You have to tell the tranmsmitter to use two channels before in the Enter prigram first.
Then go to to the List and do your Reverse ans Sub trim. Don't use the Programmable Mixers. |

Here's how you can do it. In code 17, inhibit Aux 2, Aux 5, Aux 6 and Aux 7. Then, in code 22 set the wing type to "Normal", then in "Mate", enter AUX2 in AIL, enter AUX5 in ELEV, enter AUX6 in FLAP, enter AUX7 in RUDD. When you select code 11 (reversing), you will see that the channel names have been altered to indicate the new assignments. Plug the servos in as indicated. Ch. 1 Throttle Ch. 2 RAIL CH 3. RELE Ch 4. RRUD CH 5. GEAR Ch 6. LFLP Ch.7 AUX2...not used Ch 8. AUX3....use for brakes Ch 9. RFLP Ch 10 LRUD Ch.11 LAIL Ch 12. LELE Hope this helps... |

sincityjets, what i have found is that if you don't have all the aux channel nobes and sliders centered before you inhibit them, that for some reason throws the centering of the servo off and they do not travel at the exact same rate.

HI Chad, you must be doing some thing wrong, I just set up a brand new model and works fine, 2x 8611 servos, check you don"t have a servo speed ajustment (24).

Use the channels as they are labeled on the application manual, not all channels work the same in certain conditions, and with the 1221, that's like a power expander and can take up to 50Amps, which saves weight and wiring, use the servos direct to the receiver.
I had the same problem a year ago, and it worked when I plugged the servos as the mentioned manual suggested. Regards |

Chad make sure that channel 3 and 10 on the EQ 10 are reset. The end points and center may not be the same on the 2 channels. If you have a pulse width meter you could plug it in the port and test it.

I am putting my elevators on 2 different channels as well. I calledJR and what the guy told me was to make sure the channel you have the other elevator in, it has to zeroed out then mixed and adjusted to match the other elevator. That said I would call them and have them e-mail you the procedure. They have a call back function and it works. I dont have the number handy.
Now I have to play stupid here and ask why you are using 2 channels for your elevators? Have you considered the reversing Y connector? MPI makes one with an adjustable pot so you can get them spot on. I am assuming your elevators when plugged in to a regular Y connector go different directions. Hope I have helped you a little. |
