RE: Viper Jet 2M Pointers/ tips.
Thomas:
We can get close. . .pipe is now installed and to remove it means removing turbine as well. OD is not a problem . This is a tapered pipe so inlet will be larger than exit. Will post what we can shortly. Regards, Eric Clapp |
RE: Viper Jet 2M Pointers/ tips.
Thomas the pipe is 600 mm long withOUT the bellmouth. The outer Diameter is 87.725 mm
I hope this helps. Bob |
RE: Viper Jet 2M Pointers/ tips.
Hello Bob,
what do you mean with bellmouth? My english is not verry good and the translationprogramm doesn´t knows the word "bellmouth" Regards Thomas |
RE: Viper Jet 2M Pointers/ tips.
When not using a full bypass a radiused lip (bellmouth) is attached to the front of the pipe this part is shaped like the bottom of a church bell. It helps the air flow smoothly into the pipe.

Ali,
You mentioned keeping the cockpits in the canopy to make servicing etc easier. Do you have any photos of how you managed to do this? I've started hacking up my cockpits but am not really sure how I can make them removable. |

Here is my progress.
I am making the front cockpit fixed to the fuse by 4 screws. If you need to get under it just romove them and it will com out. I had to cut the top rails all the way back to the cockpit tub to make it fit inside but I like the way it will work. I added a wood rail to both the side of the cockpit tub and under the rail of the cockpit to fis the tub too. On the cockpit is is 1/16th ply and under the rail its 3/8th square. The back cockpit will ride in the canopy frame. All the service items will be under the rear cockpit so no need to remove the front cockpit each time. Should have it done in about 2 more days. |

Bill, what have you used to paint the inside of the fuselage?
|
RE: Viper Jet 2M Pointers/ tips.
Hello Bill,
it seems you are finished the viper. What is the dry weight? Regards Thomas |
RE: Viper Jet 2M Pointers/ tips.
reaps:
We use first, Rustoleum Gray primer giving a "cover cote" to all areas we want painted. While tacky, it then receives a light (emphasis on light) dusting of your favorite "fleck or speckle" paint. Caution to the fleck paint as it is heavy. Most jets Bill does this process adds less than 4 oz. additional weight. 07/18/10 - This Paint system added 1.9oz to the Viper. Viper is very light on the wing. We balanced exactly in the middle of the forward/rear recommended cg. Perfect. Now with 15 gallons of fuel consumed, all I (and all observers at Jets over Kentucky) can say is "it is an awesome jet and Cheetah is perfect !" A perfect finish to the inside. Regards, Eric |

Bill - what pilot and where can you purchase it do you have in your Viper?
Bob |
RE: Viper Jet 2M Pointers/ tips.
Bob, He is a Blue Box pilot that Eric had. I guess E-bay is the only place to find them anymore.

RE: Viper Jet 2M Pointers/ tips.
Nice Viper Bob ! im in the wait for mine to arrive , please keep us informed on how it flew and your throw settings after you have your maiden , cheers
|
RE: Viper Jet 2M Pointers/ tips.
Bill - thanks for the reply. I ordered my Viper the first week in April and it is being delivered today!!! I ordered the professionally painted scheme which takes 2 or 3 weeks longer. Then there was a delay due to shortage of retracts being available. I'm expecting delivery within the hour. Jeff T. has been great to work with.
