Im putting one in on my F-35. Based on the comments on this thread, I cant justify the extra cost of the other brands.

I've been happy with mine. Tons of power, fast throttle response, and great service from Barry.

I used two Kingtech engines (a K170 and a K80) for the JWM calibration flights and demonstration flights. I flew every day for almost two weeks straight. both turbines performed flawlessly. Fast start up EVERY SINGLE TIME, great power even in extremely hot and humid conditions.

I love my Kingtechs!

Thanks Berry. I really enjoy this turbine. It starts easy and runs flawless. You can't go wrong with this turbine. I will be getting another one soon for another project that I'm working on.

Maybe its time to change the title of this thread to KingTech K-170 - I think the Debut has been a success!

RE: KingTech K-170 Debut

I have always run JC's and this is my first KT. Dirk walked me through the entire set up of my 170 ECU Kero start on the phone.

The man has a lot of patience. The only problem I encountered was on the first start the starter Motor would hum but would not turn over the compressor. This with the starter fuel entering the turbine caused a little smoke. After shutting down I removed the fod screen and turned the compressor wheel by hand. The turbine wheel is attached to the starter motor and there was some resistance but after I turned it a few times it loosened up.

The next start attempt was perfect. Turbine ran perfect from 123,000 down to 33,000. Temps were low.

Did one more start and run and that was perfect. Ran the starter motor several times afterward with no problems.

All I can say is what a BEAST this engine is. I have it in a 40 lb Comp-Arf Tutor and my buddy who is a big guy had to really put his shoulder into it. The power caught us both by surprise. I also had a hand on the wing.

What else can I say. I am impressed. Great running engine and great service to help me get started with my 170.

Stan, glad to hear that the 170 worked out for you! How do you like the Tutor?

Hi Dubd,

I have not flown it yet. I am very close. A few small ends to clean up, probably next week or the week after.

Today I had one of my Jetronics Valves (gear) just stop working. Then it started to work after a while. Has me a little worried.

This 170 is gonna pull this tutor around just great.

Nah it's gonna push it around like Wild-e-Coyote on an ACME rocket. Should be a fun setup...

Have you weighed it with fuel yet?

Your right Dave,

Jets push, don't pull:D.

I have not balanced it or weighed it yet. CA says 41 lbs dry. 142 oz tank, not a light weight.

I understand John and Guy will be flying the F-16 with the 170 on Sunday. Maiden flight.

If you're worried about gear function give these guys a try. I sent in a brand new set of Todd's Pro-Link gears and had them converted. All I can say is if you want the gear to go down they go down. If you want them to go up they go up. Works everytime!

The F-22,I just can say,she is great! She flys very stable, acompany the K-170,good vertical performance. Most important, she can land like feather with flap. The Yellow F-22 is the most scaled within similar size.I have seen "her" performance with vector nozzle in Youtube(fly by Shaun),how amazing it is!
