how do your CEn trucks turn?
what mine is doing is the steering saver comes into action even with the tires on a metal table. I made a track on the lawn and it can't make the turn over the jump without hitting the swin set.
That IT! the swing set has to goLOL!!!:-)
IS the steering saver adjustable?
can I put in a shim so the spring is a little tighter?
there are 3 adj points on the pitman arm. have you tried the inner hole? which would make the servo work harder but speed up the steering?

Hello Auto2,
Most people seem to complain about the Steering Saver being too hard! Are you sure the spring is there inside the Steering Saver?
It is possible to harden the Steering Saver by screwing down the silver ring thing at the top of the Steering Saver.

it's screwed down all the way. I did hit a curb when the radio decided that 50 feet was far enough . maybe it's damaged? the spring is there, I can move it with my hand without any trouble.
With just the friction of the tires on pavement it shouldn't slip right?
my other car (mugen) doesn't do this ever.

Well, sounds like something has broken! I have big difficulty getting the Steering Saver to open as the Spring is so hard.
Why was the Silver Ring screwed right down? My guess is that when you hitted the curb, the steering(Servo) saver couldn't open because the Silver Ring was all the way down. Something had to give & instead of the servo, the part which was push down by the spring went.
When you said"the steering saver comes into action even with the tires on a metal table. " Is the spring not compressed? If the Saver is working correctly, the 2 plastic parts underneath the spring should come apart compressing the spring.

normanski is right, the servo saver should not move that easy. Otherwise the truck turns ok, the stock servo is somewhat weak. I think you may have broke something.

If the servo has broken, it would not have the strength to pull the Servo-Saver apart. So unless the root cause of this problem is found, throwing money at it by getting high torque metal gear servo is not going to help. The Servo-Saver cannot transfer the power to the Front wheels!!

using the glow plug that it came with.
short cold? I think?
I'l pull it out and look if you want.
as far as the servo saver; I have it all apart, and I don't see anything wrong.
there are no spacers or washers. just the round nut( like in you pick) the spring and the 2 plastic pieces the slide apart if the spring gets overpowered.
a washer below the spring would tighten it up, but I'll look closer tomorrow.
what setting do you have your tie rods in the outer hubs?I'm thinking if I move it to "3" the tie rod will have more leverage on the hub and there will be less force transmitted through the saver. But my turning rad will be larger.

Ok I put it all back togeather and now it is fine.
I aactually don't know what was wrong. It might have been the spring was upside down from the factory. but it works fine now.
Hey Norm- if you need a glow plug let me know. Us CEN people have to stick togeather,LOL!
