No anything but a TMAX... unless you have about 1000 bucks to make it good
to make a tmax good you need aluminum everything
and then youd probably want a bigger engine to get all that aluminum moving
iv never had one, im just saying what other people say
the savage is supposed to be perfectly great, and plastic isnt really bad. Its actually very durable becaues it can bend unlike graphite, or aluminum
thast my .02

i have also heard about problems with the roto start but if you unscrew the glow plug a little to lower compression it will start easier. i would suggest this of a pullstart big motor too until at least 8-10 tanks and the motor is getting broken in. big engines just have big resistance till they are used a bit.

As far as the one way bearing in the engine goes. Just do as Allison said. When you first get the Savage the compression is real strong in the new motor. Just like on the Mammoth. With the motor in the Savage or the Mammoth ( I have the roto start on both of mine ) you will need to just loosen up the glow plug the first couple of tanks. After you have run a tank or two through and loosened up the motor a bit you will be able to tighten the glow plug all the way down and you will be fine. I havent stripped a single bearing in either truck with the Roto Start. And I learned with the Savage that I like the roto start better than I like blisters on my hands from the pull start.

mammoth is a great choice. everyone has their favorites including me but you won't be dissapointed with one. i use anly 10% sport in my small engines and blue thunder 20% in my .247. you can go to other brands but you may want to stick with the same amount of nitro.

i bought mine from the shop i posted above. was 30 bucks cheaper than anyone else and the shipping was 10 bucks cheaper too. saved about 40 bucks.
you will need to purchase a glow ignitor and charger, fuel bottle, fuel,at least 2 extra glow plugs, and 12aa batteries. that's it. has a one year warranty against material defects just like everyone else but if you break a part you buy another.

A failsafe goes between your receiver and your throttle servo and shuts you down if you lose signal.
Definately should have one!!!!

A failsafe is like insurence for RC's.If your betteries go dead or get low on juice the Failsafe will hit the brakes as aposed to the truck going full throttle into the first imoveable object.I don't think RC's have any type of warrentie. If something breaks and it's a manufacturer error they will replace it but you have to call them and tell them your story. They won't replaced parts if you went WOT into a tree because your batteries died or you weren't paying atention to the truck. Most companies are pretty good about replaceing parts that have flaws in them or things that were broken due to radio malfunctions(not dead batts).

They're all pretty much the same. They all do the same thing, keep your truck from running away, like an electronic leash. Just get whatever your LHS has.

how does it work though??? do i just get the part and install it in the truck??? or is there a button that has to be installed on the radio too???? and u have to push it..i know newbie question but i want to make sure im not wasting my money...i ahve to pay for the qwhole thing..im only 13

It's a small device that plugs into the reciever where the throttle/brake servo usually plugs in. Then you plug the throttle/brake servo into the failsafe. With the truck power switch on, you hold full brake (or desired brake position) on the transmitter and push the button on the failsafe. The failsafe is now programmed for that predetermined brake position. That's all you have to do.
Now anytime you lose radio signal or battery power, the failsafe will move the throttle/brake servo to your programmed brake position automatically, cutting the throttle, and preventing the truck from running away out of control.

I vote mammoth all the way. I haven't gotten mine yet ( in the mail as we speak) but a couple of mybuds have them and they rule. I also have a .21 t-maxx but it stands no chance again the durn beast. It beats the t-maxx off the list as well as in the topseed area. My truck can keep up with it till the mammoth hits secound gear and when it does it slowly and surely pulls away from my poor truck. Anyways yes the failsafe is a good idea and it will definatlly save you many many times
. Yes after run oil is definatlly a must for nitro engines. It helps to keep your engine lubed up while it is not running, another words so your engine won't lock up on you. anymore questions just ask. hope i helped Ken
