Default engine question

ok i have a xtm 24.7 engine just go out on me. [] the guy at the lhs said i had no compression at all and the engine was toast. which leads me to my question:

Should i buy the parts to fix the engine, buy a new xtm 24.7, or go with another brand with the same or more power?

Also if you think the answer is another engine please let me know wich one and approx. how much they are going for.

thanks in advance,

jon

Default RE: engine question

really? no one has an opinion about an engine? heres a little more info: this was my first nitro and most likely i ran it too hot a time too many or something like that. i haved learned a great deal since i bought the mammoth so feel confident it won't happen again on the next engine i get.

but since this was my first i don't really know how anything else runs out there on the market.

please help,

buy the replacement parts. but get the pro 24.7 parts. ask your guy at your lhs. the pro has a diffeent cylinder and i think a different crankshaft but same size crankcase. the parts should work. you will get more power.

or if i am totally wrong, you can just get a new piston and sleeve from hobbypeople.net. the 24.7 is a great engine.

at hobbypeople.net. try to find out if you can hook up the pro piston up to the standard crankshaft.

I would definately just rebuild it. The 24.7 is a fine engine and replacement parts are cheap.

ya i agree with you, after looking at other prices of the "bigger" engines i think rebuild is the way to go.
