Digital servo for steering?
#1
I'm looking for a new high torque steering servo for my T-Maxx. I'm still using the stock radio that came with the truck but planning on replacing the radio soon. I want a servo that I can use now but also use with whatever new radio I get. I think I know where I can pick up a used JR DZ8550 servo fairly cheap. Here are the specs.
Specifications
Torque: 188 oz/in at 6V
Speed: .15 sec/60 degrees at 6V
Dimensions: 0.73 x 1.52 x 1.32in
Weight: 1.92 oz
Bearing: Dual
Motor Type: Coreless
Gears: Alloy Metal
My first question is would this be a good steering servo because I've heard people say not to use a digital servos for steering? Not sure why?
Next question is can I use a digital servo with the stock radio and receiver?
Thanks

I use that servo on my Savage. Its real nice. Just be careful when you put it on if you're still using the stock radio. You wont have end point adjustments, and you might find yourself stripping out servo savers real fast.

So it is possible to use digital servos with the stock radio equipment?
What are the advantages of using a digital servo with a nice radio?
Thanks

If you have a digital servo, you can turn on the Hi speed response thru a nice radio. Yes, you can use it with a cheap radio, but you wont get the full advantage of the digital servo. Regardless of what battery you use, the Digital still kills them faster than a non-digital servo.

Ok ThermalRD...I have a cheap but cool Airtronics MX-3, is that a good radio for digital steering servo?
I know I can do EPA and DR but no idea about Hi Speed Response.

To my knowledge, that radio does not have a Hi-speed response option. You might want to check with the manufacturer to be sure.
