Default Temperatures for Break-in...

i got the Savage RTR for x-mas. i havent broken it in yet because i didnt have time to go out and get nitro. but now i have it. i was wondering if it is ok to break it in in like high 30 degree weather? will this harm my truck or shorten engine life?

i would wait till you get a 4o+ deg day. but you want to aim for 200 to 220 on breakin. do not touch the needles to atain this temp. instead, use some aluminum foil and a sock over the cooling head to hamper the engines ability to disapate heat.

Leave your vehicle inside until you plan to break it in. Do you have a garage?

40+ is ok, but make sure that your motor is at room temo before you start it up. then, during cool down and restarts on the breakin, leave it in the house (on a newspaper so you don;t make a mess). do you have a temp gun? make sure your getting it to the 200-220 range for the break in or your not breaking it in, just killing it.

for the savage, it says in the tuning book, for the engine to be breaking in, the engine must be at temps of 190.

Also you can use hair dryer to heat up that engine first before starting it. It is good also to break-in the engine at 200-220 as i did on my savage and raptor, temp here are diff in N.Cal[8D]. so i don't need that hair dryer unless it is veryyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy cold. So don't forget that aluminum foil also, you need it.....
