Default Looking for a Builder

Hi all,

I’m new to this forum and the Nitro Monster Trucks. I used to have a Tamiya Fox but that was about ???? I don’t know, 17 years back.

Any way, I got other hobbies but recently I went with my brother in-law shopping for toys (he wanted to buy his kid an R/C) and I got hooked in, again !!

So I was thinking of getting my self a “Most excellent” monster truck, so I did some reading and got the conclusion that the best is the T-Maxx 2.5. However, I want it to be all aluminium body and everything with twin OFNA .21 Hyper 8 port and 3 speed transmission.

So, does anyone know a good builder that could help me do it? since I have no experience building Nitro trucks

Thanks,

Az

Buy the truck and the parts and go for it, its pretty simple, and starting from a truck thats built already, it should be easy to do.

I think it can be done, surely if you get stuck you have a hobbyshop, or friend, or RCU to help!

Thank You Man for the offer if I get stuck

By the way what do you think of the setup? Should I go for that? or should I change something? I mean the engine and trans.

Thanks,
Az

I dont know about the .21 in it, and a 3 speed? where do you get that?

I think maybe you should get the 2.5Tmaxx, drive it around for a while to get the feel of it, and to see how you like it before dropping thousands into it. IMO, you dont need all the show aluminum. But, it looks neat.

so you don't think that the .21 with 3 speed will work great?!!

The aluminum is to hold all of the power if I would have twin .21 on it, this is what I thought......

well, the aluminum is great, but its the drivetrain that gets the power. Ask some .21 questions, and I have not seen a 3 speed for one yet. I think a .21 would strip gears and wreck more stuff than it would be worth. The new 2.5maxx is supposed to be a powerhouse, so you wouldnt need a .21

Might want to start purchasing some titanium CVD's and or turnbuckles, LOL most of my drive train for my truck is that and it pretty much takes all the week links out of the drivetrain. As for aluminum it is stronger than stock materials but it really just depends on where you put it on the truck. And as JohnVH said as of yet no three speed for a .21 exist's as a direct bolt on wiht out having to modify other stuff on the truck or change out the chassis and under braces and especially for the 2.5 maxx since its so new. But yeah the 2.5 is a powerhouse the guy that owns Unlimited Engineering was givin one before they came out along with a few other peeps out there and man they haul butt. He was also givin a Terra Crusher and it was ok just underpowered and the tires made up almost half the weight of the truck LOL. That sight has some sweet parts just the only thing I see on there for the 2.5 is a 4x4x4 kit and that is it. I mean you could buy a used T-MAXX and go from there and then add on all the goodies you want it would be cheaper that way but I guess there are just so many darn options here.

Don't bother with the 3 speed it is designed for the Tmaxx tranny and buggy tires! The Tmaxx tranny will NOT hold up to the twin power of any size including a .15 twin! If you want fast get the new 2.5 Tmaxx, 40mph out of the box and wheelies. When you decide to do a project ask the ?'s like you have done here and people will be glad to help. Here is a link to a custom twin 21 (Click Here).

Talk about twain's. It seems that you have a twin T-maxx. What kind of tranny do you have on?

I use the Ofna Monster Pirate center tranny in both of the modded trucks I run on a regular basis. It is the best tranny I have found that can take a beating and NOT BREAK!

3maxxman do you post on MaxxTraxx aswell? Cause if so I think I have seen you there and had a couple of discussions together. My handle on there is MaximusMaxx and I am one of the builders of the Augusta Track in the MIA in Augusta forum. Just wondering though.

I would do it too, Ive had a Tmaxx, along with a host of other trucks and what not.

But, it is pretty simple and I think you can save yourself the hassle of shipping it off to get done. I you change your mind let me know.

Who are you asking about the EK4? don't ever buy one they are GARBAGE! TTR and ACE Hobbies have to be the worst in customer support and warranty. They release products without testing and make their buyers fix their problems and then they release a crappy at best patch for it and call it NEW and IMPROVED S2 V2! THEY SUCK!
Please don't ask how I really feel, I own one! I could have flushed $500 bucks down the toilet and been in better shape.

Yeah alot of people don't understand the difference in a heli engine and a lets say RB C4 .21 you know. They see that .70 sized motor and think oh got this things has the equivalent of a 454 in it LOL. Not having the RPM's of those smaller motors really hurts you.
