There also seems to be more parts out there than I expected. Here is another link to parts.

Default T-Maxx or Ek4????

I am from China, now in San Fancisco.

EK4 is made in China. i can get it with a much cheap price.

but shipping from china to USA is high because the truck is

a big sucker, not just heavy, also big.

Veritech, if you are going to LHS to compare some trucks,

you might also wanna check out Savage 21.

Default T-Maxx or Ek4????

Ok, time to add another 2 cents worth. I bought the truck after the reviews as well as after watching videos of it. And again I will say, really only get one if you're willing to spend alot of downtime with it. It was hell trying to break this thing in. the first 6 tanks were a handful because the thing wouldn't idle right and kept on stalling, also it really is a pain to start the thing up. One thing i want to point out is that the starter system is a bit of a pain because a normal cordless drill WILL NOT start it up, you need either a handheld starter (the ones that u start planes up with) or a high powered cordless drill (which will set you back quite a bit of money) because you need ALOT of grunt to actually turn that thing. After extended use, the backing plate that holds the starter adapter are very prone to air leaks and i actually had to strip it and reseal it twice during the break in period. Maybe i just got a dud but after speaking with most owners here in Australia, this seems to happen quite a bit (although mine was the worse). I'd say talk to as many people as you can who own it, as well as your LHS and get a fair assessment on this truck and then decide because you could end up swapping a lot of money for an even bigger headache. But if you think you're up to the challenge then this truck really is insane . Oh btw get yourself a set of ear plugs when you get the truck, you're gonna need it .

Wow that looks good.

I am a little:stupid: when it comes to this monster truck stuff. I am new and researching. I think I want the ek4 .90 unlimited, and then upgrade it. The new t maxx looks great to. But I think I want an 1/8 scale with at big block.

What do you mean by v1, v2? Is that the size of the motor. Generation?

Is that a .70 or .90 in the pic?

Thanks

Ryan

How is it the EK4 has an engine more than 4 times the displacement of the T-Maxx, and yet it's still not as fast as the T-Maxx? Does it weigh 100 lbs or something?

has something to do with the 1 speed and sheer size of it. The EK4 only tops out at 38.4 mph with the 1 speed.

Even with the addition of a 2 speed to the ek4, install a different spur gear on the T-Maxx and it would smoke the ek4.

but you could do the same to the ek4 to get it go faster, it'd still be close, but the tmaxx jus wouldnt be able to handle it IMO.

I just don't get what advantage there is to putting an engine as large as the ek4 has in an MT and then it only goes 38 mph, when a stock T-Maxx with an engine 4 times smaller will do 45 right out of the box. Is there some benefit to burning 4 times as much fuel?

now i see what you mean.. I really dont know, bragging rights maybe? nanananabooboo my engines bigger than yours kinda thing :-/ Personally i wouldnt get EK4 jus cuz its so much $$$ for so slow a machine, then i dont wanna have to spend another 200$ for a 2speed.

Like I'm saying though, it isn't much bragging rights when an MT with an engine 4 times smaller will whip your butt! I think it would be more embarrasing than anything.

CaseyDDR, you are wrong.

V2 =\= .90 engine.

the EK4 S2 v1 is crap, 0.70 engine, with a tiny headsink(look at

the pics) and there are too many serious design problems. i

forgot what they were. but people still love it because it is still

insanely fast.

the EK4 s2 V2 fixed most the problems, thunder tiger even

released an unltimate upgrade kit for V1. V2 still has 0.70

engine.

the coming EK4 with 0.90 engine will probably have a new name.

maybe just V3

38 mph is not insanely fast, especially considering it's got a .70 size engine.

I'm sure a T-Maxx would easily do 50+ with a Sirio .18 and some different gears, and that's still 1/4 the engine size.
