Ok I went against the ek4. I went out and bought the new maxx 2.5. I thought I really wanted a 1/8th scale, but it really wasn't that much bigger IMO. I did get a front skid plate and transmission skid plate. Is their any other must have parts that I should look into?

I got the green one. I asked for the least popular color. I just wanted to be different.(stick out) The directions are great. It even gives you a DVD if you are new like me. It is great. They say to not add any performance upgrades to this new engine. They claim that the 2.5 is tuned to the max an even an aftermarket pipe will not help it. I think its bs myself. I'll watch the posts from others before I do anything.

I'm getting the green one too. I thought it was the nicest looking. That might be true about the 2.5 being tweeked to the max. I haven't heard of anyone hopping one up. If I want more power, I'll probably go with the Sirio .18. I'd just like to get the truck first.

For price and value / power ratio, the 2.5 is one of the best .15 engines ever made.. so i wouldnt question traxxas, specially since they under rate there products! tmaxx almost hits 45 mph stock, and the rustler hits 52mph, yet they advertise 40 and 47

That is true. I really wanted the associated bft. But I couldn't wait any longer. My wife really likes the max and wants one of her own. I said that if she gets into it that we will get the bft.

I got mine this afternoon, and I didn't have any time to get it started at all. I have to leave for 3 days for work. It's gonna kill me.

cant wait until I get home.

Default EK-4 Steering

Can anyone out there recommend a steering servo for the EK-4? I have heard figures as high as 200 oz./in., and have seen package deals that call for 85 oz./in.

By the way, I think Grampi slipped a tooth or two! No T-Maxx ever did 45 mph right out of the box, unless it fell off the UPS truck during delivery! The company doesn't even make that claim.

I already stripped the big trans gear. Any ideas. I think I did it when I sumped and landed on the gas. It stoped shortly after that. What metal gear should I get? Should I get another ratio?

Thanks

The company doesn't make that claim, but several magazines have radar confirmed their top speeds at 44+ mph, and that's right out of the box. Seems the one who's slipped a tooth or two is you.

It's possible that I have slipped one or two in the past, but it seems theoretically impossible with the difference in engine size.

Yeah I do, and you don't need to get nasty about it. I was questioning the speed, just like the others. I have been wrong before, and don't have a problem admitting it.

It may seem impossible, but it's hard to argue with what's published by several of the mags. I don't think they're in the business of inflating numbers.

ok... lets say its been "REPORTED" to have a top speed of 44+.

nobody knows the methods and motivations of the magazines other then themselves and i dont happen to have a "out of the box" T-maxx and radar gun to confirm it.

if anyone wants to donate said items I will be more then happy to research this claim though.

Default EK-4 & Dirt Demon

I wonder, has anyone ever radar clocked the EK-4. Does anyone know anytrhing about the Dirt Demon coming out in MAy? It sounds ipressive from what I've read, and I guess it's supposed to have alot of hop-ups.

Radio Control Nitro magazine tested an EK-4 in December '02, and they radar clocked it at 37.55 mph.

Thanks for the input.

What about the Hot Bodies, Dirt Demon. There seems to be very little info. on it. Anyone know anything about it, or good links?
