as far as the spur gears goes.you have to have the pinion and spur gear lashed properly..put a straight pin in between the gears put the motor up tight against the straight pin and spur tighten it down then pull out the straight pin ..now the gears are almost perfect..had the sam thing happen with nitro trucks,,if the spur is to loode it will eat the gear..and also make sure youre slipper isnt to tight the slippers are very touchy..hope this helped a little..joe

naa, the spur gear melted because i used the original springs that came with the sav 25 they are very weak and didnt have 1.1 springs on hand at the time but the stubbornness
said to run it like that and melted the spur.when the new springs came i never had a problem again, i think i have the old springs they ate so stretched out its ridiculus ,thats why most people cant get the idle low enough so the truck cant move... its a savage 25 flaw and never adressed by hpi

The savage can be a pain in the butt, but I don't have to take it apart to much. I also have the MGT and that thing is easy to work on I like to work on it and that is my truck that I did up. My one bud runs a revo the other a t-maxx and from what I saw it is easyer then the savage. The savage is a fine truck and with the 3spd is a lot of fun, if you know how to jump and bash with some common sense the truck will not break all that much. I have the savage X and was told by some of my buds it's slow and it is but it runs all day long with no problems untill my kid had it for a day[:@].
So what are you saying?

You will like it as long as you know it's not a race truck and just a fun truck. The savage is my stronger truck but it is not the best handling, faster or braking as far as stoping truck.

not for me my lst2 can come to a stop damn fast without going over and so can my MGT. also the lst2 and mgt can turn when on hard brake don't try that with the savage. sometimes my bash site is overrun with dirt bikes and quads, almost lost the savage one time[X(] so sometimes good brakes are a good thing.
