Come on face it.. I'm tired of the same ol savage.. tmaxx BS.

In the onroad world.. you have serpents and mugens.
In the offroad buggy world you have kanais and mugens.

What about the MT sector?

Dont even think about calling a tmaxx a top of the line!
I'm talking about something that is hella good ground up.

Any ideas?

If youre talking about racing the Dominator is the closest to top of the line you can buy atm I think. Not an answer that will please some people tho.

Also the new Bergonzoni looks kick tail! You can pick and choose from the factory stuff like your servos, engine, radio etc...Also will be sold in kit form which I know alot of us have been clamoring for!

The dominator is available in a pro kit with tons of team quality upgrades. Also the new RCX version of the kyosho Mad Force is tricked out.

Let's face it... top of the line comes with hard cash and good mods. If you want your MT to do something particularly well, you upgrade that... good stuff costs tonnes of cash. But then again it's just a hobby... some people will be infatuated to get the best the market has with little thought for money... others like myself just like it stock and enjoy small little cheap upgrades

End of the day... do you have fun or do you have headaches thinking what to mod??!!

Exactly what you said hitler..
I refuse to spend $300 on CRAP and upgrade every single bit of it.
Like with the mts.. I dont like the motor.. radio, servos, shocks /suspension or the plastic tranny parts!.

That leaves me with the.. uhh chassis plate to work with for 300 smackaroos?!

This is exactly why I refuse to buy a dell comp! lol. So much better and cheaper to build your own! the price/performance ration like doubles!

Yeah I'm gonna wait it out for the monster GT. coupla reasons. It looks good to me. I'd like to get a rolling chassis! Its american.. so no parts problems unlike my mugen!
Dont have a job right now anyway.. so...might as well do the research when I'm down!
That Bergonzoni's website had me goin in circles.. and I didnt see any monster trucks there?!!

It comaring apples and oranges. MT's see the worst of the worst as far as operating conditions and abuse. Even the toughest parts break under real bashing conditions. The Dominator or Mad Force crush both the Savage and Tmaxx as far a Bash ready and best equipped..

OFNA TItan Deluxe, 250cc fuel tank and the works and of course doesn't come cheap. The MGT has too much hype going (much like the T-Maxx 2.5 was half a year ago), don't put too much hopes up.

That does look good!

But heck look at all that empty space!!!!
Second engine anyone
All ya gotta do is move the rx pack up to the left, do some weight balancing and ya got yourself a dual .25 monster!

A good contender!

As for durability - I would take a Buggy over an MT anyday.

I have 2 TMaxx's and 1 Hyper 7 PBS Buggy and 1 Nitro TC3 and a few electrics.

Love all my R/C's - But the buggy is my favorate. Took it to company picnic and hit head on with volley ball net pole - it is metal. Nothing broke. My wife did same with her TMaxx to flag pole 1 time and to a basket ball pole another time, And I spend all weekend fixing her truck each time she wrecks it.

Also buggies are better for jumping.

top of the line..... for what.

a serpent does what it is designed to do... race on-road tracks.

a kanais buggy doesn what it is designed to do... race off-road tracks.

so what is a monster truck designed to do......

race off road? what about hill climbs? jumps? tractor pulls? rock crawl? drag race? obsicle course?

there is no one thing they do so you cant even compare them fairly.

its like taking a crawler modified clod against a brushless e-maxx.

for on the track the e-maxx wins... but ends up on its roof when you try to crawl up a set of stairs. so which is better?

Good point.
I mean top of the line for bashing.

Rock climbing, jumping, cartwheeling, landing upside down... in one word, DURABILITY!

Power to spare and brakes like a tank! (A1M2 does like 30-0 in like 10 feet..its nuts! saw it on tv)

I am not saying this is the best - But I have an OFNA Hyper 7 PBS RTR - The starter box that came with it sucked so I sold it on EBay and bought a better starter box.

I love the buggy. It is a single speed with no 2 spd available for it. But IMO you do not need a 2 spd on a buggy if you plan on racing. I have done 30 - 40 ft high jumps so far.

As for ground clearance, mine is maybe 1/2 inch off the ground if that. They have flat bottoms so you do not get hung up on anything.

I am trying to construct something so I can jump the swing set in my yard, but I do not have enough running room to get the speed I need.

Hope this helps.

I agree with Kuma there. It's tough because so many of the MT's out there are 80% plastic. Knock OFNA all you want but they have more metal in em than most and seem durable. I think part of the reason is simply they are 1/8th scale buggy based which, as Studysession said, are tough as nails. Oh and Bergonzoni hasnt started shipping their MT yet. Just read about it in RC Car Mag. (it's another truck based on a buggy chassis)
The new trucks from Associated and Hot Bodies look nice. Have to see how sturdy they are. After buying a X-Factor (it did look awesome before it came out) I'd wanna wait and see a bit.

The difference between "Top of the line" cars and buggies is the fact that MOST of them come without an engine!!! If you take out the factor that RTR engines suck then it all comes down to the durability/stability of the chassis setup and the parts. So think of it in these terms...Take the most powerful engine you can get and put them in all the different trucks available and then see what happens and i'll bet you'll get a Top of the line truck after the day is done.

Hmm I wonder how a Titan Deluxe would be with an RB WS7 or a 11 port? I wish I had the $$'s to buy that stuff.

I know right?!!!

I'd like to put in a Rossi and Put another R330 RX so I can use my existing TX!

But you know.. I think the main reason MTs dont have anythign with a silver emblem is because of the market. Ppl are willing to spend so much on stock buggies and 1/8 scale onroads but not on MTS. Theyre all friggin RTR.

They should make a MT Kit. That would rock.

That is funny - I have not but I know people that have spent anywhere from 1500 - 2500 on their MT's.

I spent less on my 1/8 scale buggy because it does not break as easy.

Yeah your right.. forgot to mention.. Thats Hop ups!!

The damn MT is only like 300-400 bucks. All the rest is hop ups. Its makes no sense to me.

I think paying the manufacturer more for a better product makes a LOT more sense than these damn hop ups which are pure profit to those who sell them. like those $100 tires and aluminum kits that cost hundreds.

Everyone look at this:
http://studysession.com/vids/tmaxx-lowered.wmv

My wife is the driver. She loves her TMaxx 2.5 - I have one also but prefer my Hyper 7 PBS, the buggy is much better performer.

I lowered my wife's TMaxx and now she can do complete 180 at 30+MPh without flipping. She loves doing donuts with it. One time I had it wide open and went about 25 yards with WOT and then cut the wheel hard as I could sent it 40+ FT doing donuts down the tarmac.
