Default New to RC motorcyle...Need some info..

Been playing RC cars/trucks for couple years and have never even touched or seen a RC motorcycle... I saw one in the RC magazine the other day and it seems pretty interesting and looks pretty cool too.

I've compiled a couple questions and are searching for the answer right now..maybe some of you guys can help me out here?

1. I know that Losi, Tamiya, HPI Traxxas etc are basically the main makers of RC cars.. what abour RC motorcyles? Which company makes them? I want a popular one because that way I can get parts for it on eBay.

2. Are they fun at all? How do you even get it going on two wheels?? Or is there like a stabilizer that automatically retracts when the bike picks up speed?

3. Is it very customizable?? I mean changing/upgrading parts?

4. Are there different kinds of RC bikes??

5. How much for a decent popular RC bike? Average price?

Hi samguan,
Might be worth trying the Silverlit Ducati Desmo - its 1/12 scale, so good for indoors. Plenty of metal parts as standard, and the rider moves to actuate steering - cool

This was my first RC bike, after Heli's, planes, cars, crawlers etc.

Not much to customise, but gives a taste of what its like and they are pretty cheap.
They sell over here for around £50, but can get them cheap if you shop around a bit.

Could try one of these first then look at bigger and better?

Just a suggestion,
Drew

Venom, Thunder Tiger and Kyosho make RC motorcycles.

The February issue of Xtreme RC has a nice article about the new bike from Venom.

They are very fun to drive, but you really need a smooth surface. The front wheel of the Kyosho bike has a weight in it and once the bike gets going it will stay up right. The bikes from Kyosho and Thunder Tiger have been around for several years.

Main question is what are you looking to do with it? race, bash, bash in small areas.

The KP 09 is the best race chassie upgrade for 1/5th, it won last years world championship and won the UK, spainish, denmark, nationals in superbike class. Proven, fast, reliable with great surport from keith.

for bashing then the venom TT or NF

small area and the silvelit for you.

some good vids

Completely misleading statement. How many brands of bikes and parts does gotnitroonline carry? Two - Nuova Faor and PMT. How about 2WheelHobbies.com? Dozens.

If you are in the U.S., take a look at 2WheelHobbies.com.

If you are in the U.K., look at Formby Model Shop.

If you are in Germany, RC Motorradshop is the place to go.

Agree with Guido... 2wheelhobbies has the biggest selection, and Bruce is a very nice guy to work with to boot.

I got my bike directly from Hobbytron USA:http://www.hobbytron.com/KyoshoSuzukiMotorcycle.html... $69.

I have seen nitro rc motos, but have always run Kyosho 1:8 motos myself. They have been around since 1993, are VERY well engineered, easy to drive, easier to maintain and rebuild, easy to mod, tons of cheap parts too.

They are VERY very rugged even in full plastic stock part form - I have high-sided one of mine at 20+ mph, went skidding for about 30 feet, nothing broke, only a ground down right handlebar and fairing were the only spots of damage.

I highly recommend the Kyosho HORs, just because of long history, great support, cheap parts, ease of build and repair, great design and engineering.

Moving rider much more COOL and scale than the other rc bikes, including Venom.

A big plus: Venom is 1:8 like Kyosho, some some venom parts fit the Kyosho, almost doubling part support (I run Venom tires on my Kyosho).

Hope this helps!
