yeah i got the oil cleaned out when i removed the gyro weights, still seems slow maybe its because im use to erevo with 6s, still very fun though, i did run a 3s for a few but went back to 2s i really like the 3s power over the 2s just wanted to know about the lvc. i also was wondering about how it holds up to 3s in stock trim? heard one can use shoe goo for the tire?

I believe the LVC on the DTX Speedo is 3.2v. When I went to charge the pack later in the evening the cells were about at 3.2v each.....and that was with my 3s. I don't see any reason why you couldn't use shoe goo for the tire. Wait for microdan or another runner to chime in. I'm new to motorcycles and don't want to give bad advice and mess something up for someone.

You asked about 3s in a stock DX450. I've run it stock with 3s with 13t and a 16t pinion. Please remember I've only done speed runs on asphalt.
It is extemely fast and powerful with 3s. 3s stock was IIRC 35mph and with the 16t it was 42-45mph?
My stock 3800kv motor eventually burned some windings. There could've been 2 causes for that, 1- I had a SideWinder ESC melt down and catch fire with that motor. So there may have been some hidden damage from that.
2- Or the 3800kv just couldn't handle full throttle runs on 3s.
The bottomline is to set up the bike with the cells you want, the correct gearing for the motor and most of all you have to check the temps on the motor and ESC. Get an IR temp gun, very handy.
Motor, cell count, gearing and temps will determine what's right for you on how and where you run.

i have a temp gun i will make some runs on 3s stock and temp it, not looking for any speed runs just like the extra punch of 3s most of my ridding/driving will be done at the bmx track and 3s helps to make the jumps. so other than ur motor the rest of the drive train seems to hold up ok to 3s??????

Yes the bike holds up well, the only thing I recommend for your track & jumping is the steel spur gear. They have a tendency to crack down the middle at the pin groove. Don't forget a good wheelie bar /fender saver too.

RE: dx 450 & 3s lipo is it ok??????
ok so made some runs with the 3s man this thing is killer on 3s, so all stock and 3s my motor got up 160 and the esc was around 140 and made some runs on 2s and motor was 140 and esc 116, i did the the bike cool before the 2s run, so do u think thats to hot? should i gear down? i have the upgrade forks, spurgear and plantery gear on order along with a couple other thinks, so i heard the one way bearings are weak on these bikes?? here are pics of my home made wheelie bar/fender saver.

Excellent wheelie bar. Your temps are good. 160* on 3s is within limits of the 80% rule. 160 is 80% of 200. It's always good to leave yourself with at least a 20% safety margin. If your peak temp is 160 and stays at 160 then your good as long as you let it cool between packs. BTW those temps were about what mine was running. Your 2s temps are normal too. If you do gear down your temps should go down, but if you go too far down temps can go up. So if want to try 1 or 2 teeth down that should be ok. But the torque will go up and the front wheel will be harder to keep on the ground
