I was wondering if anyone else had this problem: When my car runs out of fuel, I can't get it restarted again. I've primed the line and anything else I can think of but it won't restart. I'm new to this hobby so any ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks
Matt

if you are trying to start it back up right after it ran out of fuel then the engine might be too hot so you would just need to wait a little while until it is cool again.

We've pulled the glow plug out of the motor to check and it still is getting hot. Also had thought about the motor being hot, but sunday we let it sit about 20 minutes and it still wouldn't start. there's a lot of fuel coming out of the pipe also, could it still be getting too much fuel. What are the optimum settings anyone had found? Thanks for you're help guy's, like I said I'm new to all of this.

you definitely need a temp gauge if you don't have one yet and get some temp readings. your next thing would be to make sure your glow starter has enough juice to heat the glow plug. even if it glows, it still can be weak. the last thing is how many gallons of fuel have ran in it? and was it broke in properly? the engine could simply be needing re-sleeving. combine a warm engine with an already too loose piston to sleeve clearance, and it could not be getting enough compression to ignite the fuel.

is it tuned right? if its to rich it could be hard to start but it wouldnt just be after running it. all engines are different so you cant adjust you truck by seeing someone elses settings. you got to tune it in just right by how it runs. when its running good there should be a small amount of blue smoke coming out of the pipe, also since its 2 stroke there is oil in the fuel that comes out the pipe after the fuel is burned. but there shouldnt be alot of oil or much fuel. maybe your fuel is going through you vacum tube from the tank to the pipe.

I had the same problem with mine and it ended up being the crappy glow igniter that comes with the truck. I bought a rechargeable [link=http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXLN91&P=7]Glo-Starter [/link] and it was like night and day. This thing will truly heat up the plug, and I'm sure that will help your starting problems.

if you have one of those compressed air can bottles spray that onto the carbarator to cool it off. when its too hot it doesnt start. i think its called vapor lock or flame out or somthing like that .lol

ya its called vapor lock. it occurs when the fuel boils when it reaches the carb. i think flame out refers to when you run the engine dry of fuel.

If a ton of fuel is coming from the exhaust, it might be flooded. Take out the glowplug, turn it upside down and pull slowly on the recoil starter to get all that uneccessary fuel out of there, then reprime and go at it. And second its probly just that crappy starter that came with it. It will eat batteries up in no time. Def. get a rechargeblae one they work much better.

Echo "crappy glow starter" really.. get a rechargable one... with a guage if you can swing it. It will make life so much easier.

Is there a way to check the compression on these motors or is it pretty noticable if the sleeve is messed up? Also, what might cause the fuel to go through the vacum tube from the tank to the pipe?

The only time that fuel was spitting out of the pipe and going up the vaccum tube was when I was breaking in my truck.

no i mean when the fuel goes from the tank to the vacum tube. this happens alot to me when my truck flips over, or if i fill the tank to full. but i made a one way valve out of a fuel filter so fuel cant reach the pipe and it doesnt release pressure when i let off. gives it better low end punch. if the sleve and piston are worn down too far you wont have much power and it would be hard to start. but it would be easier when its warm because the metal would expand. they do make things to check you compression, i saw it in a catolog once. dont know how it works though.
