hey 46u i went to my LHS today and they didnt have any hardened diff gears for the mt2 but the had some nitro 3 18ss gears in stock and they said they should work because people use the mt gears for that car. i put them in and shimmed them up and they seem to be working they are a lower ratio but work.... whats your opinion on this do you think its a good idea to run them until the other gears come in?

They will work but you have to run them in both diffs, as you cannot have one ratio in one and a different in anther or you will have one running at a different speed then the other and one would be holding the other back They all so are not as strong as the heavy duty. Some on this forum run them.

thanks, well I have them in both because i figured thats what would happen. why would the benefits of them be that would make people use them over the normal diffs?

make sure the nut that tightens the spring is as loose as it can be like right at the end of the threads and then you should have enough extra room to put the pin into it.

It is for making the diffs like limited slip diffs. On my Savage and buggy I use different weight oils but the MT the diff is not sealed so I use the spring. I have heard of some sealing the diffs on the MT and using oil. Most times you will have the front set where it pulls harder then the rear so when going around corners the front is pulling harder to help keep the vehicle from spinning out.

hey guys, how many of those spring sets do you need to purchase to do both diffs? i assume two but....
and also, do the springs help keep the diffs from dieing as well as act like oil?

I know mine has a good bid of wobble but it does not bind. Try setting the mess at the tight point. I keep saying I am going to check the wobble but I am running a TZ and if that does not tear it up then I figure it is OK and so far no problem.
As for the diff springs I do not see any real advantage if all you do is bash but if you race I highly recommend them.

Are you running the SS set up which is the same thing as on the Savage as far as the CB and bearings go?
Like I said my spur wobbles but I do not have a problem with anything wearing out. Setting mesh is very important as well as you have to make sure the alignment is correct.
