RE: Official HPI MT2 Thread
Beater.
I set them back to factory myself, 3 turns, but before i did this the problems started, so put them back to factory to see if that helped, which it did not.
Have replaced roto start with pull and checked plu and ignitor. Going to put a new plug in wen arrives and if that fails it must be the liner.
Please, has anyone got a link to which liner would fit the mt2 engine?
Also i imagine i would have to re run in the engine with a new liner???
Cheers

MT2 or MT2SS?
On towers web site you can get a sleeve for $50 or a whole motor for $70 for the basic MT2 not the .18SS kit. If you can afford it I would get an OS .18 CV-RX from Towers for $100. A whole lot more motor! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ejmovies: You haven't said how much fuel you have had through the engine yet!
46u is right, you'd be better off getting the O.S. if you can stretch to it, but you'll also need more upgrades elsewhere to take the power, I think my stock diffs have almost turned to liquid! Hopefully those bits from Tower won't be much longer.

I agree the differentials will need to be up graded even if they keep running the stock motor sooner or later they are still going to go. OS .18 CV-RX is the best bang for the buck. OS motors are very user friendly! [8D]

I only have a gallon throw my OS .15 CV-RX and still have the original glow plug in it. I do not replace mine till they need it. Why waste the money but I do keep a couple in my pit box.

RE: Official HPI MT2 Thread
I am going to bash my MT1 Racer tomorrow hope a mailbox post or tree does not jump out in front of me. I have the new tire two stage inserts in all 4 wheels and blue springs on the front. I got the sway bars to but will not work with my alloy front A arms. O well $18 wasted. Hope the inserts and springs help with the rolling over. Will keep all posted.
Thinking about getting the MT .18 SS after I get my new Savage 4.6 SS running.

RE: Official HPI MT2 Thread
Here's all what i've done to my HPI MT 2. Dynamite/Paris .12PD, Ofna engine mounts, Durtrax 4 shoe clutch, 13T bell, Dubro Fuel filter, MIP boost bottle, Ofna fail safe, Spectre Air filter, 100cc fuel tank, Graphite upper deck, RRP steel spur gear, MT 2 18SS heavy duty diffs, THS Racing tuned pipe/header and also some other slight alterations. It's been awhile since i've posted what i've done. Here are the parts that i have installed and i have some pics, just not on here yet. What do you guys think of my MT 2?

Sounds nice and should run like a raped ape. What do you think of it?
With that big block in it have you thought of putting the Ofna 125CC tank in it. It would help with the run times.

The one i used was the first link with a little alteration. I dunno if it works with the HPI bell because i traded off the T-15 with the flywheel and clutch and bell installed so i don't know. I hope this helps.

RE: Official HPI MT2 Thread
Had a pretty good day bashing today and nothing jump out in front of me for the first time in 3 days of bashing. The new two-stage tire inserts and the front blue springs made a big difference in the rolling of the truck. I have been having trouble with the slipper clutch and just about had to lock it down to keep the motor from over revving. I have the MT2 slipper clutch in my MT1 Racer.
I ran my Rush today for the first time in about a year and a half and that thing is as fast as my MT Racer with the OS .15 CV-RX in it. No the motor in my Rush is not the stock one it is an HPI .15SS. Of coarse the Rush is much lighter. One thing for sure it being 2-wheel drive it does not handle near as well as my MT Racer. But it was fun.
The reason I ran it as I put a new clutch bell on my MT Racer one more tooth and had to wait for the loc tite to dry. Is the 4 shoe Dura Trax clutch the best one out there for them MT?
Not trying to start anything but if you do some research I thing you will see a boost bottle is not worth it. But keep us posted on what your opinion is. I have one still in the package because of what I found.

Hey guys, I finally need new glow plugs, I used the ones that came with my start up kit when I bought the truck. I was wondering what everyones plug of choice is, also what's the best fuel out there? Anyone got any opinions? Thanks.

joey_k:
OS #8 and O'Donnell 20%. The OS #8 is a good middle ground plug.
46u:
I have heard the same about the boost bottle.
Klatt_89:
Do you like your boost bottle - does it seem to help? I just run extra fuel and pressure lines to equalize the pressure 8 inches minimum.
Thanks

RE: Official HPI MT2 Thread
I think the boost bottle helps out on equalizing the pressure and the engine shows a little better performance in my opinion. The 4 shoe clutch in my opinion is the best because of all hte grip it gets and you won't burn it up as fast as a 2 shoe clutch. The last longer and are better in my opinion. I know there are things out there saying boost bottles are bad but it's your judgment. If it don't work, you still have a sweet part on it. I've noticed a lot of imporvement in perfomance than without it. any other questions

RE: Official HPI MT2 Thread
dropped a new Glow plug in today and made no difference, so stripped down the engine to see some tiny scratch marks on the liner!!!!! Great!! some dirt must have got in! All i want. And I have been so careful! So have placed on order the T15 from towerhobbies but it is on back order!!! What am I meant to do until it arrives in sunny old UK!!!! I have not had a good bash around in ages, first it was an air leak, then the diffs, now the Engine!!! Help me!!!!
Oh well at least she will be sparkly clean as all i can do is look at her and clean her! :-)

RE: Official HPI MT2 Thread
Did you get the piston and liner or a complete new engine?
Gran:
In the other thread you mentioned how the Savage clutchbells can use proper bearings instead of the needle ones - want to expand on this for me?
I have this clutchbell on my O.S. currently: http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXFKM7&P=7
I fitted it with all the standard MT2 rtr parts, flywheel, washers etc, but with the HPI racing clutch. But it looks like I need some sort of cone washer or something, as my current setup is a bit dodgy. I've got the clutchbell, a big washer, then a smaller washer, then the screw.
