RE: Official HPI MT2 Thread
i thinking was the savage tranny could hold up better than the rs4 tranny.i would think you could counter sink the tranny through the pan and use a skid plate and maybe shim the diff housings up a bit.i would think some angle on the drive shafts would be ok.the angle on the axles seams to work.
RE: Official HPI MT2 Thread
Other issue I see is your raising the center of gravity pretty high. Honestly it would probably flip extremely easy. After raising my MT2's COG a half an inch it started to flip on turns. Can't imagine turning a MT2 after having to raise the engine up and everything else that needs it.
IMO it would be cheaper and easier to install a .21 big block, K4.6, or even K5.9 off a savage and gain your speed that way. you probably won't make half throttle before it would lift of the ground though

If you want all out speed just put the OS .18 TZ in the MT2. It will make the truck faster then you can imagine. Its so fast its actually very hard to control

i am going to put a sportwerks .26 in it that i took out of my savage.i am conserned that i will be rebuildind the diffs and slipper cluch every other day.i am going to run v-grove tires on it.they are low profile and 3-1/2" tall.what is a good gear combo that works well without totaly killing my low end.i wish some one made heavy duty diffs for it.a pair of dana 60's would be nice.thanks for your input

With a .26 you should be able to run 15 or 16 to 52 or 49 without much of a problem. I dont recommend doing donuts though cause that engine will shred the diffs.

If its cutting out at wide open throttle it might be too lean. Try richening the HSN 1/8th of a turn and see if that helps. Sometimes as the weather changes you need to retune it a little.

RE: Official HPI MT2 Thread
Because I dont feel like hitting 808 page to see if someone else had that problem im gonna ask it here, [8D] I own a MT2 G3.0, everytime I hit the throttle, it goes right, but when I drop the throttle, it goes straight, could it be a stability problem and how could I get it fixed?

C'mon, its only 808 pages.. How long could that take to read?
The truck pulls to the right?
How are your tires? Are you diffs in good shape?

RE: Official HPI MT2 Thread
Have you thought of starting a new thread? They did that with the evader because the first thread got too large to search. It wouldn't take long for the new thread to cover the basic stuff (ie. does a cvr or tz drop in, help me with my diff's). The thread size is turning people away from browsing.

You think its turning people away? I thought people liked the fact that there was so much info on a relatively old truck. Besides I dont think most people mind answering questions that have been covered here before, unlike in some threads where they bite your head off.

RE: Official HPI MT2 Thread
I admit reading thru 800+ pages of posts will give most people data overload. Searching with various related key words will weed out the results to find the info sooner. In July 2009 I purchased an mt1 and found out I needed an education on it. My truck has a Collarri .32 engine in it and that posed some interesting problems with chassis and drive train. This truckis my first Nitro powered RC, (I have 2 E-Maxx 16.8v, and an E-Savage) and I could see a fair amount of trouble ahead with this new unit.
You could say I have too much time on my hands because I sat down and read the entire thread from August to the middle ofNovember 2009. I admit after page 500 or so I started to skim thru some of the repeat posts of common questions. Type your question into the search engine and you will most likely find it covered a dozen timesto your satisfaction. Reading the different approaches to solving the same problem is like having a free research and development team working for you.
What I have is a 3.75hp, 4-pound car! I quickly came to the conclusion that I had to use the latest hardened gears, properly shimmed in the graphite diff cases. To do that I also upgraded most everything to MT2 parts except the chassis plate. With the torque of the .32 motor, I was getting a lot of flex and twiston the chassis plate affecting the gear mesh and axle issues. With the extra power on hand I replaced the stock MT1 chassis plate weighing 4 oz. and fabricated a MT2 style, Stainless Steel chassis weighing 12 oz. A little heavier oil in the shocks with stiffer springs handles the weight nicely. The fuel tank is from a Revo 3.3. Throttle control as well as driving ability are a must. I can tell you more about the tank mounts etc. if you like. After reading all 20,000+ posts I feel like a vault of knowledge. You will too if you skim thru the thread from end to end. The truck is packed away for winter. I will be pulling it out soon for spring and will take more pictures.
Thanks for all this information in one place
Darcy

RE: Official HPI MT2 Thread
I don't think it turns people away but it discourages them from reading and they end up just asking questions that are sometimes covered even three pages earlier. In the evader threads both exist and there is often references to the old thread. I read through about 200 pages of this thread (actually, of any thread I am interested in being a part of) and you start to see trends. After 200 pages there is not much new stuff to cover.
Nice big block - I wouldn't mind seeing a video of that thing screaming.

RE: Official HPI MT2 Thread
Refering to my question, diff in good shape, same for tire, it looks like there is more weight on one side than the other.
