Could be a few things but most likely a rear diff. upgrade to HD gears and shim them.

Hi, I've been looking in classified and eBay for a mt2 and thought I'd ask here.
Would anyone like to sell a mt2?
Send a pm if ya have a decent one to spare.
I have a new engine looking for a home so without engine is a plus.
Thanks

Check out the pics of mine a few pages back (page 854). It's probably my favorite RC.
best one I did was build a 2nd plate to bolt on over the original chassis plate with the motor mount holes drilled. I did that so I could reposition the servo, and other bits freely whereas when I drilled into the stock plate it was no where near as easy. Also the plate was untouched so if I felt like it I could swap it back to nitro with no visable mods
Heres pics of my one where I made a RS4 rally using a MT2 chassis plate. I based the idea off someones conversion I saw that had a bolt on manufactured conversion kit.
I since started working on making it using a RS4 EVO 3 on-road chassis(body selection/tire selection sucked seeing it was over 1/10th in size, and smaller than 1/8th), but kinda got thrown on the back burner for the past few months due to other things popping up that I found a tad more interesting.
Think when I redo it I'm going to flip the center gear around, and mount the motor on the servo side seeing the RS4 is a bit smaller my battery won't fit if I don't. When I redo it I think I'm going to flip the motor onto the servo side, rotate the center gear by 180 degrees, and either buy a battery mount off an ofna SCRT10 or something.

i just came across a os 18 cvrx short shaft for $37. can it work on the mt2 with my t 15 clutch and flywheel or do i need to get them for rc10gt
Hey all, I have been involved in R/C planes, boats and cars for years but have been out of it for quite some time now. I have an autistic son who had recently expressed an interest in having a R/C truck and so after showing him some options we chose the Traxxas Stampede XL-5. He has taken to it well and has become pretty good with it. He asked me if I would get a truck to run with him, and at first I shrugged it off but after some thought I came to thinking it would be fun for both of us, and honestly he didn't have to twist my arm too much, lol.
After a lot of reviewing and research I went with the HPI MT2 3.0 RTR. I always liked Nitro Shaft driven 4wd with a .18 roto start motor from a great company and a great price. It was either this or the Traxxas Jato but I wanted the 4wd.
I have been reading this thread for days now (its quite a large thread) and have been enlightened by much of the great insight and generosity of the members in sharing their time and info here. I should be receiving the truck tomorrow and intend to run it around stock for a while. Sounds like I'm going to be pleased with it right out of the box. I'm not so interested in top speeds but more into the low end grunt and performance.
I've already ordered a 14 tooth clutch bell to experiment with later on and will probably get a 13 and a 17 to experiment with as well.
In one of the posts here (I think it was from KeithjV) someone mentioned replacing the stock clutch spring with a stronger one allowing the engine to spin faster before engaging clutch. HPIracing does not make one and so I was wondering if anyone knows where i could find a stronger spring for this setup. I'd like to eventually experiment with that.
Sorry to be long winded here.

Just an update to my last post. I took the time to break in the HPI 3.0 engine and found that the LSN was set too lean from the factory. Opened it up about half a turn and it held idle and tuned nicely. Got the truck out on the opn pavement and ran it a bit adjusting the HSN until it performed well while still a bit rich. Adjusted the LSN by closing it about an 1/8 turn. The engine starts up and holds tune giving me great power throughout its band, Excellent top speed, blistering actually with the 15CB in there but not so impressive on the low end. I went to a 14CB and it made a nice difference. Still impressive top speed and much more low end. I have about a 1/2 gallon of O'Donnell 20% fuelthrough this engine now and it seems tobe dialed in very nicely and with the 14 CB. I ordered the 13CB and think its going to be just what I'm after. Interestingly, the 14 CB is not as deep as the stock 15CB that came with the truck and so I had to add two more washers between the screw and the CB to prevent it from sliding back and forth too much. No prob, worked well.
The clutch came with a two shoe setup with one large spring that wraps around both shoes. I ordered shoes and springs from the RS4 which is two teflon shoes and separate springs which i think is a better setup. Loving this truck.

I too recently got a MT2 3.0 and in short order broke the clutch spring. Not willing to keep buying entire clutches to get a spring, I went with the RS4 two shoe /2 spring set up and it drops right in and is going great so far.
coulda just bought another brands clutch springs [:-]
Its what I did when my springs wore out way cheaper than a whole clutch.
you want to stay 3 shoe so you put less stress on the shoes as 2 shoe is for onroad with way smaller tires.

The RS4 clutch shoes was sort of a stopgap, although it seems to be working well atm. Shortly I intend to go with Mashers, 13t clutch bell and will then probably go with a Savage flywheel and clutch setup.

unless you will throw in a .21-.28 engine then it would work(that requires a bit of modding from what I seen)

BTW nice Punisher skull on the HPI JSDF body

if you go mashers you will need to trim the front wheel well a quite a bit. I ran mashers on mine with the HPI MT1 chevy truck body, and had to take a quite a bit off. I ran mine with the 15t spur on a .15 engine, not sure how it would work on the .18

Looking at mine, im thinking about putting some rally tires and it and an 1/8th scale rally body, if i can find out that will look right (tires not sticking out and proper wheelbase). Whatcha guys think?
