I would like to eventually, but I will also be doing some "bashing" as it is called. Is this setup a bit over the top? Do you have another recommendation??? Thanks!!!

That setup is fine, going with the factory team gt from the start just gives you a stronger truck, and you don't need to worry about upgrades. IMO

shawnlh's statement about it being stronger is false considering most of the parts are graphite. i think it is kinda a dumb idea to buy a ae engine, if your gona do that you should just buy the rtr. go with a better engine. if you plan to race get a .12 for it is illegal to race .15's in most races.

and also seeing that that radio is only about $65 i doubt that its very good quality. in such a good truck it would be a shame to have anything less than the best components for it.

So you are saying I need a $200 radio to make this truck worth while? Some how I doubt that. From what I have read the Futaba PL is a decent radio. What do you recommend then for a first setup? I don't want a truck that I have to turn around and buy $200 in upgrades. TIA!!

ICrashThings,
Do you ever get sick of talking about your RC10Gt "Mutant"? Just curious. YOu always mention how much you spent, how fast it goes.....blah....blah...blah. Can you give me some useable information? Recommended kits, radios, and egnines? Atleast ericheller is somewhat helping me out.

Get the O.S. .12 The .15's are not as good. They tend to heat up more and wear out fast. They are bored oit .12's. Also ditch the PS idea, it should be called POS. I started with a PS and it was good for a little while then worked worse and worse. The started boxes are cool and you can get a nice one form tower (OFNA) for about 80 bucks with the battery and glow igniter included. I would also get the factory team truck form the start if you can swing the cost. You will spend lots more upgrading parts than if you just get it now.

I am looking at doing a bit of everything. I would like to do some "bashing" and also some racing. I suppose I can spend what I have to to get the correct setup, but would prefer to stay under $500. Of course I want plenty of speed, but not overkill. Thoughts on this:
Associated RC10GT Team Factory
Airtronics MX-3 Radio
O.S. .12 CV-RX engine

From tower you can save a bit. I like the futaba radio better, the 3pdf is a great radio and has 3 car memory. I like the memory as you can have brake/throttle settings for different track or motors. You may want to start with a OS CV .12 and not the CVR. The .12 is fast and much more reliable to abuse and easy tuning. I have a CV abd CVR and can beat my times with the CV and enjoy it more than the CVR. The CVR is to much por for most tracks and is a bit on the tempermental side.
Also the little air filters are really justy fuel filters. see link

you can get these at your local automotive parts store for a buck each. don't try to clean them, just replace them and keep the pre filter clean. A dirty filter will make your truck slow and frustrate you when trying to tune it.

First, don't buy the AE .15 engine. Buy either an O.S., or a Fantom. They are much better engines and can be purchased for around $100 without the pull start. I'm guessing the radio you're talking about is the new Futaba 2PL 2 channel computer radio. Its a great radio and will out perform several radios costing twice as much. My question is, where can you get it for $65? For servos, go with metal geared Hi-Tec.
