Default Spur Gear Melted!

I just finished installing a four shoe clutch, but the new spur that i put on with it stripped within 2 minutes. It was running fine untill i stopped to check the idle, there was some smoke and when i started to go again it stripped. Would it work to richen the high end and but a new spur, or should i order the metal spur from new era.

Sounds like when you put the new spur on the mesh was off,
that's a the most comon reason for a spur to strip.

Was it stripped just in one spot, or was it damaged all around?

It was only in one place, that is why i think it metled. My last one was off and the entire gear was destroyed.

Well, with the new parts, make sure the mesh is perfect and back off the slipper a little, you can always tighten it up as needed.
Both need to be set right to avoid stripping
maybe the new clutch shoes were just grabing to much
