Get any ell cheapo that uses a C Cell. The meter is eye candy. If you get it good. If not, don't worry bout it.

Cheap is cheap and thats just what youll end up with something that wont work , spend a few bucks and get one that has rechargable sub C cells does not have to have a meter like Spokman said , not a bad idea to have 2 of them because when your out with your friends it never fails that one of them well need to use it because there 's doesnt work. By cheap I meant a rechargeable nicad. Runs about $12-15 Keep it charged up and you don't need to worry about it. The nicad is around $1.50, just replace it if you start have probs with it.

I went with the Tower hobbies brand, rechargeable with the meter. That was money well spent, after using cheaper ones that ate batteries like no tomorrow, and just generally failed me at critical times. Spend the money!!!!

Yep. so i bought the associated one with a rechargable sub c and a meter

I had another question. When i take my car's glow plug, and i hook it up to my heater (outside of the engine so i can see the coils)
all but the last few coils glow. Thats not good right? Is that a dead glow starter battery, or a dead glow plug?

thanks

it may just mean that the platinum coating on the plug wire is worn off not allowing that portion of the wire to glow, if the plug still works and your car runs ok with it then by all means dont worry about it. I have run plugs with all but the last 2 rings not glowing and they worked fine.

Yeah and it will differ from engine to engine as well...

I have a Epic18 that can run with the bottom coil to coil and a half not glowing and you really can't tell a difference.

My SH28 on my Savage will start beautifully with one coil not glowing but give it ANY throttle and it just dies...

I've got an Evader and aslo the Associated rechargable glow starter w/meter. That starter is great. I just recommended it to somebody in another thread before I saw this one. And it is not a "twist and lock" sytem. This one is better.

oh and one other thing... my evader is really hard to start. I prime it till the fuel reaches the carb, put the starter on... wait about 10 sec, give it a couple of pulls... but it doesnt like starting, even when warmed up. Its got fuel, its got air,.... but i think its because of the glow plug coil issue (not all the coils glowing). Hopefully that associated starter will help. I also bought a glow starter that is just the shaft and it has wires with clips so you can hook it up to any power source you want. One guy said he used a little extra voltage on his glow plugs and it helped him start faster. Is that a bad idea?
