Hey all, I got a couple questions.
1. when i run it out of gas and look in the tank (pull up the lid) it is smoky. is this normal?
2. what other than shocks/springs should i upgrade. Im not concerned w/ "bling" just want durability. Best brand?
3. tuning ideas? i still coat the body w/fuel from the exhaust after a couple tanks.
4. What else should i know?
Any ideas would be great....

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^, its not a good idea to run your tank empty, your making the engine run lean for somtime and the engine doesnt get lubrication i wich is bad

it doesnt matter if you run the tank empy your only leaning it out for a few seconds and if you dont run your motor empty of gas gas will stay in the engine and draws moisture and can rust

not sure about all the other problems your having but keep in mind that duratrax's nitro evader shocks will bolt right in and fairly cheap and they are threaded adjustable and really durable ,i installed them on all 4 corners of my rustler and they work great,
just my $.02
take care

Hey, thanks for the responces.
Well.. I took out the rustler today and broke a turnbuckle on the left front and a shock cap on the right front. It looks pretty sad. It was a wheelie gone horribly bad (picture cartwheels 2 feet of the ground at about 30mph). But, for $5 in parts should be good as new minus the body of course.
I'll take a look at the evader shocks, thanks for the info.

hold up!!! no matter how you shut off your engine you are always going to make it lean except if you plog up the carberator. but if your run your tank empty you will run lean, and if you pinch the fuel line then you will run lean! plus you dont want to leave gas in your car.
SO BURN IT OUT!!!

Actually, I understand where Nitro Rustler Racer is coming from. He is not talking about the few seconds that your engine runs lean when your engine doesn't get gas. He is referring to when the engine runs lean for about the last minute of your run, just before it runs out of fuel. You can usually tell when the truck is running low on fuel, because it will begin to stutter and the engine wants to cut out. This is the leaning he is referring to, not the few seconds when you shut the truck off.
