Ok you cannot make a rustler competitive even if you are a pro driver. I tried everything from motor to screws to shocks to chassis. Trust me I tried everything. Then i tried my last option and I bought my RC10Gt not any other st out their like it so nice fast and durable. WOW. I havent lost a race since and im only 14 years old. The reason a rusty is not suitable for racing is because it is back heavy. (too heavy in the back of the car)!!!! Which makes it pop wheelies no matter what motor. When you take turns the wheels are barely touching the ground so it wont take sharp turns like you need to in racing. I could tell u 50 more resons but i dont feel like typing any more!!! LOL Just sell it for and rc10gt!! Thats my advice!!!!!

it doesnt matter on the truck you can move the battery pack to the front to help the weight problem but racing is mostly about how good of a driver you are, a car set up for racing may help a little but it doesnt matter that much

But anyway, Rustys make GREAT bashers but go to the track, if you ever see a rustler you better take a picture. The trucks that make the laps are 4 out of 5 times Associated and Losi trucks, the other 1 out of 5 will be a Kyosho (ultima). A few people have spotted an Xcellerator a time or two but the Associated and Losi are what people are racing (and winning) with.

most people that ride track are going to buy a car for track but if you own a rustler for bashing and ride track sometimes, its all in how good of a driver you are it doesnt matter on the truck

Answer me this... how many titles or even single races of any importance have been one with Rustys?
the answer: silence...... just crickets.

rustler doesnt have any titles because its not a race truck and its not set up for racing your right but if you can handle the car good and you have good skill it isnt going to matter on the truck its all about the driver

as everyone said a rusty is not a good racer kyosho's associate's and losi's are out there dominating the tracks because of there designs, they are designed to race.

Not one of you have provided any info for bettering the Rustler.
Here it goes...
*Option caster blocks-your Rustler will turn much better(not near as much push).
*Pro ball diff-your Rustler will hook up out of corners & down the straights MUCH better(higher maintenance).
These first two upgrades will help the most(along with tires).
*Mip cvd's-stock plastic yokes tear out. The stock sliders also will seize up and not slide.
*Lunsford turnbuckles-so you have something to grab onto when adjusting.
*Stronger steering servo-quicker steering and more durable.
*Rechargeable hump pack-to power your new servo.
*Bowties in the rear.
*Losi ribs in the front. I suggest medium for longer life(I use this tire mix on my Rustler & GT).
EDIT: Don't forget the Big Bores!
If you have the 2.5 you'll never have to worry about power.
If you have the pro .15, add a OS 10E carb w/MS filter and AE tuned pipe(my pro .15 rips).
All said the Rustler just isn't as precise as the GT(never drove a Losi).
Its a wild slide machine when compared to my GT.
In B gas you may have a chance, probably not in A gas.
My pro .15 Rustler WHOOPS on Savages!!! [:-]

And try doing this about 50 times in an afternoon with yer Rusty: http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/New_...2264546/tm.htm
Keep in mind that these were shot with top-end gearing... 18/48 (yep, 48 delrin, not HPI) Badger over at Savage central has some insane videos with 20/48 (!!!!?!!) gearing, 60MPH is a Savage LOOKS stupid; dangerous actually...

Well not ALL Savages Frost lol! I hope your .28 two speed(or three?) can whoop on a .15 Rustler! Still lol.
My point really was to give some good info on the Rustler that most eveyone dogs.
I'll bet my P2 Maxx will hang with your Savage in speed & track time.
I'm sure I can break more parts...
For the Rustler owners, thats how ya make 'em handle(SORT OF). ^^^
