The only hopups as of now are made by XTM, but the aluminum is definitely tough. Don't upgrade until things break, take it easy at first until you are comfortable. With the speed comes the distance needed to brake effectively. Most early broken parts (for first time drivers) are from too much speed and a non-moving object.
I am sure you will enjoy it.

XTM noticed allot of their cars werent getting the aftermarket support they needed so they decided to do what they got attention for a while ago and make aluminum for their OWN cars instead of the ye-ole t-maxx
out of the box the X-C needs gas (stick to 10-14% oil and 20% nitro, Trinity Monster Horsepower is considered a good one for the SH engine) 12 AA batteries and minor other tools for tuning and maintenence [link=http://hobbypeople.net/hopup/14561001.asp]the XTM alum. parts[/link] a while ago there were XTM titanium turnbuckles listed for the X-C but as of now i cant really find them

not quite, for a while they made parts for the T-Maxx but still werent that much of an aftermarket company, they had their own R/C they were trying to get selling but ... the baja sucked...
so they scrapped it, and released their 4 current cars (mammoth coming last) i think they still make some parts for the Maxx though

too big for ROAR but most local tracks will let you run with stock engines, no mater the displacement... and I mean come on, there are no GOOD RTR engines. There are some that are decent, but nothing noteworthy. The Rusty may have the best (of the STs), but then that is offset by the fact that the truck is one of the worst handling STs.

the XTM .247 and SH .28 are RTR engines
and the X-C is actually a very good club level racer the rusty isnt... the X-C is faster out of the box but the rustler has a little more on the bottom end, that being said ... titanium turnbuckles on a X-C would make it a AEGT killer with a good driver and a racing level .12

I got one and I can tell you that the car is very good, but the radio system(Hi-tech) is not that good, I have to replace my with an Airtronics one and it work perfect. The turnbuckle snap a lot, so I replaced with Traxxas sistem one and it works great. Make sure if you get one to put threadlock in the pull star screws and also in the main gear, the hex screw from the flywheel come loose. Good luck

The XC can compete at the pro level easily.
I had a nitro XC and it was great, strong engine, good radio, best support on the planet, and more...
