I have a nitro mt and I thot that it would be fun to put a seccond engine on it. Once I started on it I descovered that I needed parts. and the local hobby shop dident have it. so I just spend 50 bucks on tower getting some clutch parts ext. Has any one ever put two engines on this small of a car. will it be wicked slow because of the extra weight or wicked fast. I am thinking of making a longer chassis and gettign some foam tires to make it a street car. Tell me what you think.

you wont gain much more speed, but youll have more Horse Power and more torq on your truck, if you do it, tune one engine at a time and then start them both and be ready for wheelies.

I am going to try to poast some pics for you guys to see.
in the pics you can see how I sawed off some of the plastic exposing axis to the spur gear for the seccond engine to go. There is also a picture of my dads shop in there that he lets me do little projects in.

well to solve the wheeling problem I was thinking of making a longer chassis or having one made. My hopes are to have this keep the front end doun and improve high speed handling.
for two separate engines making seprate loads is true but why does it matter. if I have lets say 1lb of torque of one engine and .5lb of torque off the other then I will simply have 1.5lb of torque..... I think. As for one reving higher than the other... well I guess I just wont get as much top speed as before. due to lets say the stock engine reved higher than my additional engine. then when I reach top speed the additional engin will be holding the stock engine back.... I think. My solution is to gear the car higher and take advantage of all the additional torque I have added.

are you planning on using one or two drive trains? because I believe you need 1 for each wheel, and with two different engines that would cause uneven power to each wheel.

wow- really nice shop mittimj, it looks like your old man is really into old snowmobiles and signs- really cool!(little messy though)
as for the car that should go like a bat out of you know where, you must really know your stuff to tackle a job like that. Do you think you could give me some pointers on tuning airplane nitro engines?

I ahve been noticing that lots of people are concerned with two separtate engines. I dont see the issue, It may not be quite as efficient. But unless someone wants to donate two like motors I am going to stick with what I have.

I just cobbed this up on paint.... dont think I am quite ready to build this. though not that hard to build it would end up breaking anyting and everything on the car. Maby I will attempt this after I finish my dubble engine monster.

Slick..... you can use robinson metal spur gear for the savage along with the slipper setup from the HPI MT 2 (from tower) i would also suggest some 14 tooth clutch bells. two engines should easily pull this gear and you will need it for the smaller diameter foam tires. IMO road hawgs might be a bit friendlier

For the throttle I would suggest gettings two servos instead of that piece of metal. I think two servos would be more reliable. Plus if you hit any bumps that may wobble a bit and make one engine rev higher or lower.
Otherwise when you get done you better be posting vids and pics [8D]

that throttle set up is not good, you need to turn the carburator around on the blue engine,(w/e it is), because how are you going to have a filter on it? that metal piece is blocking it

that whole setup look slike the dang thing is not going to run liek a bat out of h e l l , it looks liek its going there....i have a feeling if and when he tries to run it...we get the thread called "double engine gone bad" or in his case and spelling" dubble engine gone bad"
anyways u are going to need metal gears, i cant stress that enough....any gear u may have, it better be metal...also the power thing between the two engines will most likely kill ur two engine dream, i dont see how two different engines with different power ranegs are going to run together
ps have fun with tuning, and getting it to work properly

I was thinking of running two servos. that is a pretty good adea. I just put that pice of sheet metal on there for mock up. I was going to make somthing a little stronger. maby a linkage of some other type will work better.
#22
if you use that metal link you make, but on the second engine turn the carburator around, weld like a metal sheet in the middle of the linkage so that it sticks up, then attach the linkage securly to the throttle thing on the carb, and then the throttle linkage fromm the servo will connect to that metal thing stickin out, if you dunt get it, PM me, i will draw it for you an explain, its really simple, like mentioned when you are bashing that it will like mes up, not really, if you secure it tightly but giving it enough movment everything will be ok

well that is a goo idea but if you spin the carb around on one than ones cose will be the other ones open. I reciently was showed the best way to do it. I am going to keep it hush hush till I get it put all together.

well I got sick of waiting for parts from tower. So I cobbed somthing up to try it out. I am still waiting on a clutch bearing before I can use both engines. waiting to catch a ride to the LHS. hope you guys like my exaust header. amazingly it has pretty good low end. I dident get to test the top end because I have no break yet. btw the plow is junk I think I owe some apoligies for that. I just read my last poast and i dont get it eather.
