A dude on either this forum or rctech did a few mods to his .26 FS and was achieving 1.0hp and reached 28,000 RPM. Sounds fine to me!
Looking at the engine, it s h i t s me that O.S. are still using the old plane 4 stroke engine design. The carb is in a bad place, and it will most likely still suffer cooling issues like it's predecessors...

I'm with rccars411 on this one. MX guys thought two-strokes would live on as the kings of racing. Next thing ya know, 90% of the guys in the 250 class are running 450 thumpers.

The full EPA restrictions come into play in '08,,the lawn mower you can buy will have to be a 4 stroke too

Comparing this to the O.S. FS engine shows some very impressive power outputs...

The reason everyone are on 4 strokes is, The factories are pushing guys to ride them, soon that's all you will be able to buy.

Ok so I got mixed up with the specs, but if you read into the thread a bit you will find that his dyno reads very low and that the highest power figures he has pulled from a .12 is .78 hp...

the RB Superchargers arnt that great on 2 strokes but imagine what they could do on a 4 stroke. Supercharge a 4 stroke and you got jsut as much power as a 2stroke of same size.

Nonetheless, I am still a big 4-stroke fan, and I think that 4 stroke technology is getting good enough to see some impressive 4-stroke power output. I will agree it is hard to beat cheap 2-stroke power though.

There is/was a new 2 stroke design going around. I read about them in MotoX Action mag, they were 2 strokes but they ran on only fuel, oil circulated similar to the way a 4 stroke would. Interesting article, but I can't seem to find one similar online.

I've heard about that too. I think Suzuki experimented with 'em back around the same day of the RE5 (the crappy rotary bike)
How did Yamaha get the RZ350 (the 80s 2 stroke with essentially a Banshee engine) past the Eco-terrorists anyway?

I read something about honda developing some 2 stroke motor that doesn't burn oil, can't remember how the lubrication system worked, but apparently it had emmisions comparable to a 4 stroke....EAT THAT TREEHUGGERS!!

if they ban 2 stroke dirtbikes, that's all i'll buy from now on just to peeve the Sierra Club (my beat up old Isuzu Trooper with no catalytic converter said "THE SIERRA CLUB CAN EAT IT" on the tailgate
)

I guess you guys haven't lived anywhere with serious air pollution problems. It's one thing to complain about overzealous banning of 2 strokes and etc, it's something entirely different to go out about pollute just to be anal.

Here in LA the air was getting better, but the influx of so many people and their cars is defeating the EPAs efforts to clean up the air.

I do not ride a sports bike but I do ride 18,000 miles a year and in the last 3 and half years been in 41 states and 2 pieces of Canada. July 2 I will be riding from Georgia to Alaska and back. I do like all types of motorcycles just for what I do a sports bike will not work. I assure you I put out less pollution the any car or truck! Enough about motorcycles as I could go on about them for years. Matter of fact I have for over 35 years.
