Default O.S. .12 CV-R vs. Fantom Racing FR12

Hi, I was thinking about buying an RC10GT or XXX-NT. I was wondoring which engine is best, overall performance wise, O.S. .12 CV-R or Fantom Racing FR12. Any suggestions? Also, what tuned pipe should I use?

On engine i think the fantom would be more powerful, but the os is amazingly reliable and will last a long time. As for pipes both trucks come with perfectly fine ones.

at over $200 and a MIGHTY expensive rebuild I will never buy a .12 TZ.

Get the Fantom FR12, that engine screams and is incredibly reliable, easy to tune, and VERY cheap to rebuild. ($40)
Fantom makes high quality engines at affordable prices, that's their goal.

Fantom makes DECENT quality engines at a DECENT price. I have had two Fantom engines. My FR12? eh... My Fantom FR18 is a real powerhouse... But not too long ago the crankcase snapped while I was installing the cooling head. Just snapped. I talked to Fantom customer service and they won't do anything about it. I have dealt with Fantom costomer service on many occasions and it just SUCKS. You can't rely on them for anything. I've been waiting for almost two months for stormerhobbies to get the crankcase in stock but it's still not there, and they are the only ones that carry them. I like my FR18, but I'd never buy another Fantom engine.

You want a powerful, reliable, and cheap .12 engine? Get the SH .12 pro. They sell them on hobbypeople.net for 130-140, but I got mine when it was on sale for 100. I'll drag a Sirio with this thing anyday, it's a real powerhouse. better than my FR12 ever was.

The 2005 fantoms are just as reliable as an o.s cvr with a powerband designed specifically for off-road racing. It has an amount of power that is between the .12tr and the tz. And I actually own one.

OK, thanks for all your help. Lets just put it this way: What is the overall BEST engine for an RC10GT for under $140?

A 2005 fantom fr12 or if you can still find one, an o.s .12 tr for $99.

the TZ just flat out has too much power for a stadium truck.
stick with the 05 FR12, the SH12 Pro for big power, if it's a tight track ya shouldn't need any more than a 12CVR.

Here is where you are wrong: http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXKFC7&P=Z

OS' intentions was to have the TZ in a st. Just gear for it.
