every piston and sleeve that is new need breaking it, as they piston and sleeve have different tollerances and need to be seated to each other in runnin temp, ie thats why the heat cycle break in method is far superior to the rich break in

ok i wanted to drop a .21 engine in my vader. the one i had in mind was this.

http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...0%3D%26fvi%3D1

i know its an sg shaft, but i know u can buy nuts that will hold the flywheel on. after that all you need to do is put the bell on like normal. what i am concerned about is the length of the shaft, and if the mounting holes are the same. i know this is a .21 smallblock, and i ahve heard theya re the same mounting. i was wounderin if anybody has tried this or knows of any tips in gettign a .21 into the vader.

it sais no where that its a small block, it has big block mounting dimensions, so u will need to retrofit a BB engine mount onto your evader, and u will have to seriously have to beef your driveline up as it has trouble keeping intact with a OS18CVRX

If u want all out power get a OS18TZ, it will have just as much power as that cheap taiwanese toki motor

ITS ALIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!![>:]

HAHA so happy, ok my first offroad nitro truck was a nitro evader, it ran great and at 4 gallons the motor was worn, as it is a ABN sleeve not ABC, nickel being alot softer than Chrome. Anyway, it sat in my wardrobe for id say about 1.5 years.

A couple nights ago i was playing with the DTX18 engine parts (evader engine) and looked over at my AE 15 engine parts LOL (ntc3 engine)

i mixed and matched parts and came to the conclusion that hey, the AE15 sleeve and piston fit into the DTX18 crank case perfectly and line up with all the ports perfectly, the rod slips over the crank pin with no slop at all either, so i installed the piston and sleeve, put the backplate back on and installed the AE15 cooling head, Perfect.

Today i picked up bartmans worn out Great vigour motor, they are basically the same motor the DTX18 and GV15, cept that the 18 hasa larger bore

I gave the DTX18 pullstart to a mate, so the pullstart came of the GV15, and onto my frankenmotor

Just then i took it out for its first run, started it, super rich, tuned it up a little and its a little beast, no wheelies like the old 18, but top end and bottom end is a nice medium.

So the little nitro evader is back up and runnin, thanks bartman for t he parts motor, its greatly appreciated, Cant wait to take the evader to the BMX track

the only 21 that uses small block mounting dimensions is the OS21TM which is made for the revo. U will still need to do a bit of modding, get a rear exaust pipe/header, re do your linkages as its a slide carb etc.

There really is no point to a 21 in a lightweight ST, the 18TZ will be just as uncontrolable as a 21. Also even the 18TZ will tear your driveshafts to bits, a guy on here had a 18TZ in his vader, every couple of runs he would have to replace the driveshafts as it tore t hem to bits

I run 40 series mulchers. They have a low profile for stability and get really good bite. You can see them in the pic below.

so annoying, looks like il be needing a rebuild kit for the diff, it just loosens its self to quick, i might look around for a locknut that will work, maybe its just that, and its proly the thust bearing as well, as it only has 3 balls in it

What does a diff cost on ebay?

sweet i just converted a OS 18 CVR in to A CVRX. All u need to do is change the crank(i think thats wat its called) from a cvrx and put it into a cvr and thats it and now just have to put the back plat on and im done then i also need to run down to my lhs and get a dang collet. do hardware stores carry them? and the reason i did that was my one cvr was brand spanken new and the cvrx looks like some one drove it through hell and back. but the internals looked good so now i have a spare engine or i can use it for parts. also is their suppose to be a gasket like the dtx has on the back cover plate or just an O ring?

Not sure what the difference between the losi vs evader. As far as what tires, if you can afford it,get both. The Dirtworks are good for track and other things, the Moabs are a great bashing tire because of the added ground clearence you will gain but they are not good for racin.

oh man, the track was in great shape yesterday, perfect amount of moisture in the dirt. And the MGT was running super strong. The slap wheelies were awesome. I am planning a bash there for this saturday, so if you guys feel like driving for a few hours, c'mon over!

if you run a NiMH hump pack then the duratrax fail safe is awesome. If you run alkalines in the truck, then that fail safe is always kicking in and becomes a PITA. Its not only signal, but voltage dependent.
