I need to know, is the exhaust port on the back or side of the engine. The back of the engine means it is pointing towards the side of the car and the side means it is pointing towards the back. If it is a side exhaust engine the o.s. engine will drop perfectly into the car if not let me know.

the exuast runs to the side of the engine... exit towards the rear of the car. well my lame pull starter broke today so now the new engine is sounding even more in my mind. plus this motor no matter wut i do when it fires it runs then dies... then it wont fire again.. compression loss. ive had the engine out b4. but it just wont run and stay running.

If the car was used it sounds like it was definetly worth the 45 bux you bought it for. The engine sounds like its pretty bad. I would go ahead and get the new engine. Also when you look at the carb tell me which side the screw is on.
