remove your engine from your truck and box it up. Then send it to me:
The Stratcat
in return I will send you a .12 engine to replace it
are your clips good? not bent out of shape?

The TZ is a killer of all stadium trucks. You should have read the threads around here saying that that engine will murder your differential and everything of the crankshaft. You should have run an engine that has a good amount of power and not too much.

RE: .18 tz with too much power!!!!!
Set up right in the right truck I do not think there should be a problem. I know of at least 2 people that have them in there stadium trucks and the only time they break things is by hitting something. I sure plain on getting one in the next couple of months. My CB are held on with a screw and not a wimpy C clip. How about changing the clutch set up? Will love to put a small block in that has the HP of some big blocks. Other then the C clip how do you like the engine? [8D]

RE: .18 tz with too much power!!!!!
love the engine, just had to learn to drive with a not so heavy foot/finger ..on pavement or high traction enviroments it is very difficult to keep the front end on the ground, even after about half throttle...my only ***** about the tz is it's rpms (not really ) and the clutch clip flying off causing the loss of the bearing..what type clutch setups are your buddies running on their tz's ?

RE: .18 tz with too much power!!!!!
my drivetrain is as bullet proof as can be .ti top shaft and alum. and steel everything else..even the tranny case is metal..with hardened clutch and spur.and so far everything is rock solid.i'm sure thru time and abuse i will have to replace parts but right now i am not having any probs. except the wimpy c-clip..actually the clutch set up is about the only stock parts left on the truck, everything else is metal except the shock towers..although i am going back to rpm arms because the alum. arms can take too much abuse and screw up other parts that can't take the abuse..i suggest to you to go and get an .18tz and maybe you could be the fastest .

RE: .18 tz with too much power!!!!!
The guy I no best that has one is running basically a stock HPI clutch with HPI race shoes. I all so run the same clutch in both my stadium trucks and like it very much. He is running it in a MT 2 SS with the stock plastic spur gear and slipper, which is the same thing that comes in the Savage so I do not think there well be a problem there. The MT 2 SS comes with all the heavy-duty stuff much stronger then the MT2.
Here are the shoes.

On HPI vehicles the clutch bell is held on with a screw.
Right now in the truck I am thinking about putting the TZ in has the OS .15 CV-RX. I have just about put all the heavy-duty drive train in it that you can just like the MT 2 SS. Mine started out as a MT 1 Racer which is the for runner of the MT2 SS. I might get a MT2 .18SS just for this engine.
I am sure it will be a hand full to drive but I think with the MT being four will drive and being heaver will handle pretty well.

RE: .18 tz with too much power!!!!!
Thanx for the info 46u.
Can't wait till it gets here, I just read a couple of reviews on the 18ss and the only thing the car appears to lack is low end power. But I don't want to gear down and lose top end.
So I'd rather add more power (go figure).

Hi
If you are having a problem with the e-clips coming off then you should see about getting one of these. There made for the RC10GT.

Good deal! I figured there had to be something else out there that would work. Being that it’s how all mine came from the factory I did not know for sure. The TZ does not have any warranty. [8D]

AJ's a pimp, he found the SSRC aluminum RC10 clutch that is a REQUIREMENT for ALL 18s witht he GTs. If you have a monster like the TZ you HAVE to run this clutch: http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/fb.asp?m=2294418 That TZ will make MASSIVE HEAT on the CB with the POS stock clutch...

Will this work with the HPI flywheel and CB set up? If not what do you recommend? [sm=idea.gif]

RE: .18 tz with too much power!!!!!
Does any one know of any aluminum shoes for the HPI? I am fixing to put some Nova in my Savage but from what I can see they do not make any for HPI small block set up. I know a guy running a TZ with the HPI race clutch, which looks just like the MPI clutch just like I am running in my OS .15 CV-RX. He says it works well. I have seen the truck run a couple of times and it is unreal!
I will all so ask it the HPI MT2 thread.

RE: .18 tz with too much power!!!!!
First I have never tried to run them backwards. Of coarse I never have touched a hot stove to see if it was hot either. Do you know how the clutch works? The clutch shoes work my centrifugal force. As the RPM goes up they sling out and make contact with the CB and the vehicle moves. Being the flywheel only turns one direction I would think if they where not put on correctly they would not sling out. Why would you want to put them on backwards? Hope this helps. [8D]
