O.S. .18 install help.
I'm trying to install an O.S. .18 CV-RX in my RC10GT RTR+. My question really doesn't have anything to do with the truck, more with the engine. When I went to install the MIP Heavyweight Flywheel, MIP 4-in-1 Clutch, and Robinson Racing 18T Clutch Bell, I found that the threaded shaft was to big for the bearings that were on the AE .15 engine, but the clutch bell only keeps from flopping around because of it sitting on the clutch. I removed the flywheel piece that comes on the motor, but the shaft doesn't even come even with the end of the clutch bell. What do I do? PLEASE HELP!!! Thanks in advance.

RE: O.S. .18 install help.
A few things, that is NOT enough clutch for your OS18... It will always slip, fade, and seriously heat the CB up. Be ready to eat up CB bearing every 4-10 tanks depending on how you gear/drive, and have mushy throttle response in the powerband.
But to the topic, did you cut down the pins that the shoes sit on? With the MIP setup the stock FW's pins need to be shortened.
What you NEED to do is read the entirety of this 3-4 page thread: http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/fb.asp?m=2294418 Throw that MIP and stock POS out... at least with an .18.

Oh, and good-luck BTW, but those SSRC shoes are really the ticket for big small-blocks in a GT.

Thanks for the advice. I'll keep that clutch in mind for when my MIP goes out. I used the flywheel pins that came with my MIP flywheel, and it seems that there is no need to trim them to fit because they fit flush on the flywheel and the clutch without any excess on either side. I wouldn't be asking for help except for the fact that the clutch bell doesn't fit on the crankshaft snugly and I'm worried that when I install the engine to the chassis, that the clutch bell won't stay on, that's really my only issue. Thanks again for the help.

Ehh... sorry. Mine lined up and fit well with the stock flywheel/collet and bearings... That MIP will get you through breakin, but as soon as you start to lean things out for performance, you'll see it slip. Keep an eye on the CB for heat discoloration at it's base.

[link=http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&W=000590686&I=LXGGP7&P=K]This[/link] is the O.S. .18 CV-RX that I have. Maybe I just missed the clutch collet or clutch nut. I hope that's all I did. This is the first time I've done a motor swap on a nitro truck, so I guess that missing the clutch collet/nut is entirely possible. Thanks again for the help.

You may as well set it up right now unless you really don't mind going back through it.

D@#$, that sucks. Unfortunately, though, I'm not gonna have the money for about another month or so to replace the clutch again. By then, I probably won't even have the new engine broken in yet(at the rate my truck's been going this summer, as I've only ran maybe 2-3 tanks since March). At least the clutch and clutch bell might hold up through the first bit of break in.

RE: O.S. .18 install help.
OK, I've hit another road block in my engine swap. This has kind of been an on again/off again project, that's why it's taken so long to get only this far(plus waiting for shipping).
To recap the project, my starting point is an RC10GT RTR+ with front and rear aluminum arms and front and rear aluminum shock towers. To counter that added weight(this truck will primarily be bashed unless I can find an outlaw class to race in just for fun), I'm swapping in [link=http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&W=000590686&I=LXGGP7&P=K]this engine[/link]. Unfortunately, I didn't realize when I purchased it and got some adviece from this thread, that the installed crank was to long, so I then ordered and installed [link=http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&W=000590686&I=LXGMM8&P=K]this crank[/link]. Also thanks to this thread, I found out that I was using the wrong clutch nut, so I then ordered [link=http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&W=000590686&I=LX3371&P=K]this clutch nut[/link].
My problem this time is that my flywheel does not fit the crank properly, it just spins on the crank while the nut does not tighten enough to hold it in place. The flywheel collet is not large enough in diameter to fit over the crank as well, therefore creating my problem. Do any of you have any suggestions as to which flywheel I should purchase to install on this project? Thanks again for the previous suggestions, and thanks in advance for any more info you might be able to provide.

nevermind, i just wasn't applying enough pressure on the flywheel collet to set it on the crank. Thanks anyway, and sorry for the needless post.
