Default Noob problems - any advice?

Hi everyone, I'm new to the nitro truck thing, but not entirely new to nitro engines... I recently bought a Duratrax Maximum ST with the Torq .12 engine. I can't get the dumb thing to turn over to save my life, and can't figure out why. The engine gets good compression, so I don't know what's going on, but here's what I have been through:

- reset all needles to factory settings
- changed the fuel line and the vent line off the muffler
- checked the air filter to make sure it was good and clean
- took out the motor, tore it down and rebuilt it to check for problems
- checked all gaskets while I had everything torn down
- tried 3 different glow plugs and 2 different ignitors

The fuel is brand new off the shelf from my LHS, so it shouldn't be a problem. Every plug I have tried glows nicely when I hook the ignitor up to it. This is with a pull start, by the way... It seems like every now and then it kind of pops like it might turn over, but the rest of the time it just goes like you didn't even have fuel in it. I flodded it once, so I know it's getting fuel. Nothing seems to do the trick though.

Any advice on what I should check next? I've had some stubborn plane engines before, but never anything THIS bad, and I want to play with my truck sooooo bad!

Jeff

When I first got my MT2 I had the same problems. Someone suggested this to me and it works. Close the carb all the way...fill it up with fuel (with the air filter off) and then open it up with the radio to let the fuel flow into the carb. Then put the throttle to 1/4-1/3 and try starting it. That initial burst of fuel kind of exploded the engine on for me...

Im not a pro or anything...only been into nitro for a few months, but it worked for me.

Hey thanks for the tip! It's worth a shot because at this point I am about to trash the dumb thing and go back to planes! I tried putting a few drops of fuel directly on the piston head and starting it that way... Almost acted like it was going to start and crapped out, so it sounds like a fuel delivery thing to me, but I've been over everything with a fine toothed comb! I'll try this and see how it works.

Thanks again!

dont just give up and go back to planes. ive been into planes for a few years and im new to cars and i had problems with my nitro evader st. but then once i learned to use it properly everything smoothed out and its easy now. just dont expect any car to be perfect, no matter what manufacturer.
